abit to Close its Doors on December 31

From our front-page news: Earlier this year, rumors began to float around about the potential demise of abit, or at least their motherboard division, and while a few sites posted "fact" about the company's closing, it never happened. Time went on, and the rumor seemed to be put to sleep...

    Building an Affordable "Skulltrail" System

Take it as high as it is stable ;) If it's stable with reasonable voltages (I wouldn't recommend going over 1.45v), then just keep going until you find a hard-limit, and keep tweaking to make it as stable as possible. It takes a fair amount of effort, but the feeling afterwards is great.

Nintendo Stomps the Competition with November Sales

I'm not sure what you mean. Every-single console manufacturer has said that in the past about their own console, so how long does it take before we see it being pushed as hard as it can be? The Wii has been out for over two years, and the graphics on even new games are nowhere close to the other...

Oh, how far $80 can stretch...

This chip belongs nowhere near you. For what you do, Quad-Core is your only option :-) It's Wolfdale, but no Pentium model has SSE4... at least not yet.

My seagate freeagent can´t be found by the computer.

manu_rvd, although it sucks to learn the hard way, you should always have more than one backup of things. If the source drive dies... you are screwed. I keep three constant backups now of all my important documents and project files... two on the PC itself (two different HDDs) and one on the NAS...

Steam's Hardware Survey Gets More In-Depth

True enough, but that can be said about a lot of the information there. I don't see a reason why they can give us details like driver versions used, but not be more specific about storage and RAM. I'm going to come right out and call it stupid. 4GB has been the norm for a while, and at HIGH...

    Comments/Suggestons on Proposed I7 Build

That rig looks great, but I wish I could give a great suggestion on a chassis. I love my Antec P182, but it's a little bit too small, so it's hard to. It also depends on what you are looking for in a case aside from silence. Does it matter if it's expensive, or has a window, or is rather large...

Putting Cash to Good Use: Toys for Tots Fundraiser

I agree, Child's Play is one of the best charities around. It's nice to know that sick kids are being directly helped as a result. They need joy more than most anyone.

Apple Announces its Last Year at Macworld

I'd agree for shows like IDF, they are manditory, but Apple doesn't need to take part in conferences to build up hype. The blogs and news sites keep that going enough, and that reaches a wider audience. It's that simple. As for CeBit and the like, I had no idea Apple attended those.

Oh, how far $80 can stretch...

A few weeks ago, while strolling through Intel's latest processor pricing list, I stumbled on a mention of the Pentium E5200, a Dual-Core chip at 2.50GHz. This CPU came out a few months ago (I believe ~September), and when it dropped, I ended up forgetting all about it thanks to so many other...

Are you using the latest version of CPU-Z, and did you disable power management in the BIOS (like C1E)?

NVIDIA Now Offering Mobile Graphics Drivers on their Website

From our front-page news: If you're a notebook user, and especially a notebook gamer, you probably know the frustration of finding updated drivers for your particular model. Some manufacturers include updater programs, but most are finicky, and most manufacturer's websites are so...

OCZ Releases Faster-than-Life Triple-Channel Blade Series

From our front-page news: Yeah, I know I just posted about some OCZ modules earlier this week, but the most-recent launch deserves an equal amount of praise, due to it's sheer speed and timing set. If you've ever overclocked memory, then you know how important it is to have a good combination of...

    NVIDIA's GTX 295 Looks Promising

From our front-page news: As we found out last week, both ATI and NVIDIA currently offer mid-range cards that are pretty equal in performance, but things change when talking about high-end. Since ATI first released their HD 4870 X2 dual-GPU card this past August, they've rightfully held the...

    Building an Affordable "Skulltrail" System

Well, it can go down, but not up. 6x is the lowest it can go, I believe, so it might just be throttling due to overheating. If it's related directly to the memory timings... it just could be fussy memory.

    Nothing's working???

GPU BIOS flashing can be different with each card, so you'd have to read up on it. I've only done it twice, and really don't remember what I did (except that I required a stupid floppy). Hopefully someone else here will be able to offer some advice.

CoolIT Releases Affordable Liquid-Cooling for CPUs with the Domino

From our front-page news: This might be the day to launch new cooling products, because in the previous post, we took a look at Sapphire's latest GPU solution, while here, we'll check out CoolIT's new Domino CPU cooler. CoolIT is a company that immediately become well-known throughout the...

Sapphire's Atomic HD 4870 X2 Water-Cools both GPU and CPU

From our front-page news: As has been evident by recent announcements, ATI is in a fantastic position right now. Their products are great performers, well-priced, and look good. But, if there's a lingering problem, it would be that the cards can get hot, and that's an understatement, since by...

    [ABT] Vista SP2 Whoops SP1

The most interesting benchmarks there would be the gaming ones... but even then, the differences are hard to settle upon. Benchmarks can vary between runs, so I wonder how many times each game was run in order to achieve accurate results? I really don't know if SP2 is supposed to improve...

Intel Core i7 - Choosing the Best Memory Kit

If price isn't a huge issue, then I'd get the Mushkin kit, without question. There's a rather significant difference between 6-6-6 and 9-9-9, although it might not be seen in all things. You would see the difference if you compared the same timings in certain kinds of multi-media applications...
