Worst Band Names and Album Covers

Well, in defense of Microsoft, I think this was an inevitability. At least these avatars look like real people, not like someone built out of Duplo bricks. That aside, Microsoft did do a lot of good with their latest release, and I'm rather impressed overall. I hated the original menu system...

Bopaboo Offers Place to Sell "Used" Digital Music... Seriously

Sadly, I think we know how it will play out. The only solution I can see is DRM... that way the music could actually be tracked. DRM sucks, and if we can't have it, I can't see us having this service either. But hey, at least SOMEONE is giving it a go, just to see how things play out, heh.

    ATI HD 4870 1GB vs. NVIDIA GTX 260/216 896MB: Follow-Up

From what I understood, ATI Tray Tools is defunct, at least where newer ATI cards are concerned. Last time I tried to use it (about a year ago), it wouldn't work with the latest card I had on hand, so I just left it. "To overclock both the nvidia and ATI, the latest Rivatuner can do both." How...

Intel Contest: Tell Us YOUR Processor Story and Win!

Intel has even more contest love going down: In the spirit of the holidays and not being a scrooge, we’ve got three contests (one I sent ya a few days back) going on right now that have pretty cool prizes (new Centrino 2 laptops, Core i7 processors, $500 Amazon gift certificate, etc) that your...

    NZXT Avatar Gaming Mouse

In the world of gaming mice, there are a few names that we see often, such as Logitech and Razer. But, a new entrant is here, and they're hoping to make a splash with their first-ever gaming peripheral. The Avatar from NZXT has both the style and design we're looking for, so let's see if it...

Worst Band Names and Album Covers

Nope, not me :-) I was home-schooled for the last few grades, so no official high-school for me. Mistakes like this are easy to come by though, when "Rob" and "Williams" are two extremely popular English names. My parents might have not been too original, haha. I'm 25 though, if that helps.

    ATI HD 4870 1GB vs. NVIDIA GTX 260/216 896MB: Follow-Up

That's a good idea, but for the most part, simply overclocking the GPU is going to give you the largest benefits, and the case of the two GPUs here, NVIDIA wins. Their card can be really overclocked (75MHz at least to the Core), while ATI's is limited thanks to the CCC. If someone had the time...

Crysis Warhead Features 5-Time Activation Limit

Hi wolf2009: Thanks for the nice comments, and welcome to the forums :-) Calling these companies generally takes a while, so I figured it was common-knowledge that you'd have to be prepared to spend a half-hour on the phone. It's a sad reality, really. Not all companies are like this, but...

    IntelBurnTest vs. SP 2004

This is a test I've been meaning to do for a while, and since it's freezing outside (10°F), I figured today was as good a day as any to put the benchmarking machine to good use. The quandary's simple. Which stress-testing tool is more effective in determining a stable overclock: SP 2004 (or...

    ATI HD 4870 1GB vs. NVIDIA GTX 260/216 896MB: Follow-Up

Whoops, I do believe I forgot to mention that. The 8.12 drivers we used were pre-release... ATI told us that those drivers would be identical to what will be officially released on Wednesday. I'm unsure about the beta drivers you're using, but they may not be the same ones used here. Overall...

Mirror's Edge PhysX Comparison Video, 2K & EA Join the PhysX Club

From our front-page news: Last month, we posted about DICE's agreement with NVIDIA to license PhysX technology for the upcoming PC version of Mirror's Edge. On the same day, NVIDIA released a high-resolution video that showcased just what the game would look like with the technology enabled, and...
