problem w/bios POST on cold computer....

I'm not sure if I understand the problem. Is it just that the PC boots up slow on the initial boot after it's been sitting for a while? If so, it's doubtful it's a big issue, but I would recommend updating to the latest BIOS for your board first, and then we could go from there.

eVGA's Upcoming X58 Board Promises to Scream "High-End"

From our front-page news: One cool surprise at CES that I didn't expect to see was eVGA's upcoming high-end X58 motherboard, one that might do well to compete with the likes of ASUS, Gigabyte and others in that arena. Although I don't recall the name of this board (there might not have been...

Palit Radeon HD 4870 Sonic Dual Edition

I'd recommend downloading GPU-Z to check for the memory size: http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/ If it says 512MB, you should be good. If not, then the card might have to be RMA'd. You could also benchmark each card by itself with an application like 3DMark Vantage and see if the scores are...

    Anyone using Windows 7?

I've heard great things about Windows 7, and it's kind of refreshing. The Windows Vista launch was muddied with doubts, and as we found out, it was mostly for good reason. Since the serious bugs have been worked out since then, and 7 is based on Vista, but trimmed down, I don't see much reason...

TRENDnet TEW-637AP Wireless N Access Point

That is the first time I've ever seen the forums break from someone's post. I'll have to look into this one. Might be due to the allowance of HTML on these forums, but I'm not sure. Edit: Fixed, but that was odd. Thanks for your information though, that's a cool way of getting around things :-)

ASUS at CES 2009 - All About Eee and Multi-Touch

ASUS kick-started their CES announcements two days prior to the official show start, and to say that a few interesting products were unveiled would be an understatement. At the event, we saw a hard push for multi-touch technology, a slew of Eee products and even an entire computer inside of a...

    Techgage @ CES 2009

ASUS has a lot going on this year, but that's not much of a surprise. LOTS of Eee PC stuff, including a new netbook that converts to a table, and also an Eee Top... a desktop PC with monitor built-in. The monitor also doubles as a touch-screen, so no mouse required. "Multi-touch" is something...

    My First Netbook Experience

I'm with you there on the 12" thing. I brought one of those with me to Computex last year and fell in love with it. It's neither too small nor too big. It's just a little more difficult to find a 12" that offers more than 3 hours of battery-life and doesn't cost more than $2,000.

Audio Archiving Guide: Part 2 - CD Ripping

In the first part to this series, we took a deep look at the various music formats available, while here, we'll tackle the actual ripping process. Believe it or not, some methods are better than others, and we'll explain why. We'll also discuss specific rippers for Windows, Mac and Linux, so no...

China Busts Counterfeit Ring, Convicts 11

From our front-page news: It goes without saying that piracy of any sort is a huge issue, from movies to music to software, and sometimes, even to hardware. In the US and Canada though, we are well aware of what can happen to software pirates, as through the years, many have been carted off to...

Windows 7 to Bundle Popular Video Codecs

From our front-page news: Given I'm not a Macintosh user, I'm unsure of this situation on that platform, but I think for the most part, many people well-understand how things go down with a fresh Windows installation. Once the OS is installed, the quest for normality is far from over. We'll need...

    My First Netbook Experience

Alright, so I'm a little behind on the times. Netbooks have been around for a while, but it wasn't until recently that I've been able to spend a little more than a few minutes with one. With CES right around the corner, I decided to finally get one in and spend a week using it exclusively at the...

    Nikon D50 6.2MP Digital-SLR Camera

Hi D50freak: Yeah, this review is a bit old, so I can't even recall my thoughts on that camera. It's been superseded by other models since, as well, so things are ever-improving. Generally, lesser-expensive D-SLRs aren't usually going to have the richest colors available, and the D50 (and even...
