    Microsoft Re-Releases XP SP3 and Vista SP1

From our front-page news:Last Wednesday, Microsoft pulled both SP1 for Vista and SP3 for XP due to a conflict that arose between one of their own products (how that wasn't caught in testing is anyone's guess). For those who were on the verge of freaking out, calm down, as they've thrown both...

    Paying by the honor system?

“I liked the idea of simplifying things and ... the honour system made a whole lot of sense,” [owner John] Bergen says. “What irritated me about going into Tim Hortons, for example, was waiting in line for something as simple as getting a donut and a coffee. So the thought was, someone can pour...

Yet another "Special Edition" Veyron... the Sang Noir

That's ok - the tires wear out in about 15. At least that way you can go change them and fill up at the same time.

Apple to open largest store in Boston...

When I took a step into the 5th Avenue Apple Store last fall in New York, I was rather impressed. It was large, clean and unique. How many buildings do you walk in that are made of glass? Boston's new Apple Store looks to trump that one, however. While most stores have just under 200 customers...

Can AMD's Puma Dent Intel's Dominance in the Notebook Market?

From our front-page news:Is anyone at this point surprised that Intel's processors are found in the majority of notebooks on the market? Doubtful. Where the ultraportable is concerned, as the Nanotech blog points out, Intel has a huge monopoly. Of course, what else would you expect? Intel is...

Microsoft Continues to Deny Blu-ray Add-On

From our front-page news:If there is one rumor that just will not die, it's 'Blu-ray on Xbox 360'. Rumors somehow keep on starting, and Microsoft is always quick to debunk each and every one of them. I don't think there is any doubt that Microsoft is indeed in talks with Blu-ray drive...

The fans inverted, so it sucks air out rather than in over the components, which seems somewhat odd. Judging by what I can see of the components in there, I'm willing to bet passive coolers would be just fine. Total overkill.

Ubuntu 8.04 is Well Worth the Look

Not sure about that Matt. I think creating a separate partition and doing things the usual way would be best. I think WUBI is an experiment at best, for now at least.

    OCZ Releases Ultra-Fast 2000MHz 4GB DDR3 Kit

From our front-page news:DDR3 hasn't been out too long - less than a year - but it's progressed quite a bit since then. Whereas "good" 2GB kits would set you back over $500 just last summer, far superior kits can now set you back only $250, or less. Though much better, it's still difficult for...

Alles Gute zum Geburtstag! Wolfenstein 3D Turns 16

From our front-page news: It's a common misconception that id Software's 'Doom' was the first popular 3D-shooter for the PC, but it was actually Wolfenstein 3D, a Nazi-infested game that was released a full 18 months earlier. If you grew up with a PC and happened to be a gamer, then chances are...

eVGA's UV Plus+ USB Graphics Adapters Now Available

From our front-page news: While at CES this year, eVGA surprised me when they pointed to a small square box sitting on a table. What could eVGA have to do with such a small and simple-looking product, I thought. Well, upon further inspection, it turned out to be a gadget for adding displays to...

Super Talent Releases (Somewhat) Affordable SSD Lineup

From our front-page news: Less than two months ago, memory manufacturer Super Talent released one of the largest solid-state disks we've seen to date, and at 256GB, it was undoubtedly impressive. But at $6,000, it became more exclusive than a Rolex. The fact is, SSDs started out expensive and...

    Logitech X240 2.1 set...

I believe he's right for the most part, from what I am basing on my own experiences. Software volume control is more to do with the sound card, while the speaker control is strictly for the speaker. So if the speaker is turned up, it means you are getting the full fidelity, while if it's low and...

Yet another "Special Edition" Veyron... the Sang Noir

Ok, so I kind of thought the Pur Sang edition was less-than-appealing, but I feel the opposite about the Sang Noir, which translates to "black blood". This car was wicked styling to begin with, but pure black with an orange interior is damn gorgeous...

    Game bloggers are "losers"...

I will tell you that all these video gamers… they’re bloggers, as well as video gamers - they’re writing all kinds of stuff about me [that] I’m the enemy now of video gamers. I could care less about video games. Video game bloggers? They’re losers... -Glenn Beck...

Welcome to the forums! What do you mean by "recommended way"? You can adjust the volume as you please. I normally turn the dial on the speakers about 75% and then adjust accordingly in the OS.

Ubuntu 8.04 is Well Worth the Look

It can't boot into Windows either? You mean you have to rewrite the MBR each time you try to install it? For some reason, I thought WUBI installed it inside of Windows, as in... it becomes an application. I guess I was wrong. That is a weird issue though. Sounds like it's not setting up the...
