    Grr, motherboard benchmarks!

Sorry for the late response guys, I've been caught up with work. First and foremost, thanks a lot for the input, it's always appreciated. The fact is, I do need to change a few things in the reviews, and I like what's been said here. From now on, I'll run a few select benchmarks, but focus...

ASUS XONAR D2 connect with front panel headphone/microphone jacks?

In order to hear what's available, you'll need quality speakers or headphones... so like Bill said, just do some selective listening tests and see how you like it. If you are concerned with it, return the card and get the Xonar DX. It's very similar to the D2 you have there, but costs half as...

New modder competition site, from MaximumPC

*flexes Techgage's fingers* Haha, congrats to him, it's a killer mod. Does the new round begin today, or tomorrow usually?

Here's what bloatware should look like...

From what I've heard, the VAIOs are the absolute worst for bloatware. That's why they tried to pawn off a $50 option for pre-bloatware removal (which is now free but available on one model).

Adobe Guru Moves to Microsoft to Help Improve Windows

From our front-page news:Whenever an OS X vs. Windows argument arises, a common theme is design and aesthetics. It's no secret, Microsoft is not the king of amazing user interfaces, although what's been pushed out has at least been usable (some would argue about the Office 2007 ribbons...

NeroLinux 3 Updated to 3.5, Receives Command-Line & Eee PC Support

From our front-page news: It's closing in on a year since NeroLinux 3 was first released, and somehow, a "major" update has passed without me noticing. At CeBit in March, Nero launched 3.0.5.1 of the application, bringing a few new features and bug fixes along. One of the biggest new features is...

    Nikon D60 10.2MP Digital-SLR Camera

Unregistered, Specs-wise, the Canon is better. It's closer to the D80, which is obviously better than the D60 in certain ways. Like I said in the review, go to a camera shop and actually test both cameras out in your hands, and shoot a few sample pictures. Chances are good that one will feel...

Here's what bloatware should look like...

I've been becoming a little more interested in notebooks lately, so you can expect to see more on the site as time passes. If you haven't seen our ASUS M51S review yet, what are you waiting for? I received a new sub-notebook from OCZ's latest acquisition, Hypersonic, last week and so far am...

    Grr, motherboard benchmarks!

Whew, apologies in advance for such a long post. I am in the process of re-evaluating how we review and benchmark motherboards, and would love some input from the community, since you are the reason we are here doing what we do :-) What matters most to you in a motherboard review? Is it...

    Vista SP1 upgraded the defragger...

Passing by an article at the How-To Geek informed me that the defragger under Vista has been upgraded in SP1... by adding a scheduler. So there you have it... something that should have been there all along. I do wish the defragger in Windows was worth a damn, though. It's SO slow and the lack...

    NZXT Tempest Steel Mid-Tower

Finding a quality mid-tower for under $100 doesn't happen to often, but NZXT looks to hit the mark with their Tempest. It offers plenty of space (and even support for eATX), four large pre-mounted fans, an intuitive internal design and sharp looks, making it a wise choice for any new build. You...

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 2.66GHz

I am not sure how I overlooked this, thanks a lot for the link! I'll give it a test and see if the results are consistent, and if so, I'll begin using it. Well, this review was a little easier than most. A few weeks ago, I spent around ten days rebenchmarking our entire line-up, so the results...

    NeroLinux 3

Hmm, I have never seen an error like that before. Did you get an error when starting up the program for the first time?

Stern Pinball Refuses to Let Pinball Die

If I had room, I'd get a pinball machine no problem, namely that one I linked to. I think what I'd be most worried about is repairing them they they break. They things are COMPLEX. But that aside, it is indeed an expensive hobby.

Need solution for a slow system!!!

Welcome to the forums, both of you. I agree that a registry cleaner would be a good idea, but normally that doesn't increase performance a great deal. Usually, there is a renegade application that's running and hogging the system resources. I think you should take a look around the system and...

    BenQ G2000W

Looks quite good from a specs perspective, and the owner reviews look promising. Doesn't look like a bad deal at all. Although, anytime I think of Aussies purchasing hardware, I feel like throwing up. We have it so good in North America.

ASUS XONAR D2 connect with front panel headphone/microphone jacks?

Fair enough, but for a card so robust, you'd think it would contain something so simple just in case. Isn't the front panel feature to allow you to plug the headphones into the chassis instead of in the back? Or am I misunderstanding things?

Holographic Storage Nearing Availability, At 150GB Per Disc

To be honest, I doubt we'll (regular consumer) will ever touch this. Right now, the technology is so early, that even in the article there it mentions that updated models are already on schedule to be released in a few years. Really hard to say, though. The fact that the discs hold so much is...

ASUS XONAR D2 connect with front panel headphone/microphone jacks?

What in the... The full-blown Xonar card doesn't have something so simple, but the card half its price does? That makes no sense, whatsoever. ASUS messed up that one. Is there at all another solution for those who need that functionality but already own the card?
