    Upgrading our benchmarking machine

I think I'm having a hard time figuring it out... you don't particularly like the Nautilus, right? ;-) I've e-mailed Thermalright about the TRUE Black, so I hope they're able to send me a couple. The fact is, swapping that water-cooling was somewhat simple, but it's clunky as hell. An actual...

    A new contest using Deuce!!!

This contest has gotten ridiculous... there is not even a point of voting at all. Everytime I look at it, your score is about 20 lower than it was before. What a waste of everyone's time. All it takes is one douchebag with a lackluster mod.

X48 Roundup: ASUS, ECS & Intel

I use IDE mode on any motherboard I test... since that's the mode I used to originally install Vista. All of the results are still comparable.

Fall Processor Pricing - Finding the Best Bang for the Buck

Thanks for the comments! Those are great ideas. I'll definitely implement them into the next pricing guide we do. That's a good idea... and one I'll have to consider in the future. The problem is that we don't always review budget motherboards, so it's hard for me to recommend a great CPU...

    Building an Affordable "Skulltrail" System

Ahh, it's nice to know that Thermalright sells a kit like that. You are really getting some great temps now... I wish my Skulltrail was so kind.

Google's Chrome - Browser Done Right?

Good point, but Firefox isn't that much better. I think it depends a lot on the financial institution though. There's one bank I deal with that has their login set up a certain way that anyone could hop on and find out my card number. They can't get any further than that, but it's a problem...

    Simple escaping Vista feature

This is one of the biggest gripes I still have with Vista... it's aggravating. I often have to add 'Type' to the sort by options just so I can easier handle a folder. Even though I add it once, it never stays there, which is even more frustrating.

Google Chrome - To Love, or Not to Love?

What impresses me is that every day since the launch, usage on our site has been just under 5% (even today). People are obviously keen to keep on trucking with it, and I'm impressed that there has been no real sign of slowdown, at least on our site. I wonder what the average will be a week from...

    Upgrading our benchmarking machine

I am well-aware that the Nautilus is not the ideal cooler, and it never was. I've been using it for almost two years now though, and the block itself is in rough shape, so I know that something needs to be changed. I've never even heard of the TRUE Black, but it looks like one great cooler...

    A new contest using Deuce!!!

One-quarter of those PCs are nothing more than the simpliest mods. If it doesn't require more than paint, can it even be considered a mod? Voted on each of them anyway, and yeah, that MorseCode mod really confused me. Why is everyone in the negative... do they begin out that way?

Fall Processor Pricing - Finding the Best Bang for the Buck

If pondering an upgrade, the time to purchase a new processor is now. Both AMD and Intel are offering a great collection of models that fit all budgets, and we take a look to find the best options available. Whether it's a Dual-Core or Quad-Core you're after, there's undoubtedly a model that...

    Upgrading our benchmarking machine

Hi all: It doesn't happen that often, but once in a while I like to see what parts in our main benchmarking rig should be upgraded, so that we both keep with the times and also deliver relevant results to our readers. I've never been fully pleased with our current machine, which you can see...

Chrome - Google's Attempt at the 'Ultimate Browser'

Thanks for all the insight... I agree with everything you said there, especially the oddity that it installs the browser under your user profile. There really is no reasonable explanation for that.

Google's Chrome - Browser Done Right?

Google's policies on indexing is one of the reasons I stay away from any of their services unless I absolutely need them (and let's face it, Google is the most popular search engine for a reason, and the reason becomes more clear when you use another), but I doubt they are going to want to...

Sandra 2009 Brings GPGPU Benchmarking to our Toolbox

Not at all. When you install the application, it tells you what you have installed, and what you don't. Things listed are .NET 3.5, Java RE 6, DX 10 latest update, et cetera. The last two things listed are AMD's STREAM 1.1 (or higher) and also NVIDIA's CUDA. Even after uninstalling the NVIDIA...

    OCZ's 60GB Core V2 SSD - $239 after MIR

From our front-page news: It's become obvious to me over the past year that our standard hard drives is one of the reasons our computers remain slow during some heavy-duty work. On my own PC, I have a fast HDD, but even copying a 10GB folder will render the PC slow for the entire duration. And...

Google Chrome - To Love, or Not to Love?

From our front-page news: You know that technology is really ingrained into our lives when all the headlines are filled up with Google Chrome-related news. You'd almost swear it was an Apple product! Even my mom, who's not high on tech, asked me on the day of release if I used it yet. Somehow...

Xbox 360 Prices Drops in Effect Tomorrow - $199 for Arcade

From our front-page news: "Whoa!" That's all that can be said about the upcoming price drops on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, because they're making the Arcade version of the console so inexpensive, that the Wii ends up costing more! That model of course doesn't include a hard drive among a few...

LetsCall.me - How to Accept Calls Anonymously

From our front-page news: Being a big security buff, I love finding out new ways to remain anonymous to a certain degree, but the problem is that nowadays, it's almost impossible. But, there are always ways to make things better, and if you happen to want to keep your phone number hidden, then...

Pioneer's Flagship Blu-ray Player Restores Movie's Original Color

From our front-page news: Who said Blu-ray was a dying format? Sure wasn't me, and according to Pioneer, it must not be. Why? Because somehow they imagine they'll be able to sell a $2,199 Blu-ray player, that's why. But let's not discredit it just yet... it might have a few features that really...
