    USB issue

Hmm, power surge? Could you maybe screenshot the error and post it here? I've never heard of such an error in Windows before. If you did indeed have a power surge, chances are it screwed up your USB ports, which is unlikely to be fixable.

Need help finding that killer t-shirt?

Hah, what will they think of next? Some ambitious folks have launched a new search engine thats sole purpose is to help you find that perfect t-shirt. Search for a term, see results... it's that simple. It's obviously still in the ealiest of stages, since even 'Linux' didn't result in a single...

    Cuil Taking Down Some Websites?

From our front-page news: As far as search engines go, Cuil is one that just can't catch a break. It launched in late July to harsh criticism, but all for good reason. Any search query shot at the site would be sure to invoke a 'WTH?' expression quick. I do have to admit that the queries have...

Five Tools to Make a Windows Reinstallation a Snap

From our front-page news: I have to admit something. I used to be a chronic formatter. Even months after installing a fresh Windows XP machine, I'd go ahead and feel the urge to reformat in order to get the system working 'like new'. It's true though, it used to be difficult to keep care of your...

    Water Cooling the GTX280

Ouch. Tacking on a $150 waterblock really does decrease the value of the card, doesn't it? I wish I had a recommendation, but I'm more of a water-cooling noob than anyone.

    Palit Radeon HD 4870 512MB

If you've been holding off on an upgrade for a while, there's no reason to continue if a gaming addiction is pulling at your sleeve. The selection for mid-range cards right now is ideal, and anything you pick up will deliver good performance for the money. The best card for the buck right now...

NVIDIA to Enable SLI on Select X58-based Motherboards

Well I understand that you can plug a 1x card into a 16x (I do that with my PCI-E Xonar also), but I didn't understand why half the pins would be left out in the open and the card still operate at 100%. Even if you plug a 1x card into a 16x slot, all the pins are taken care of. 60% of the pins...

NVIDIA to Enable SLI on Select X58-based Motherboards

I'm still confused about how the card will work when half of its pins are not connected to a slot, though.

NVIDIA to Enable SLI on Select X58-based Motherboards

Essentially though, this is good for Folders only, correct? Wouldn't the cards in the 4x slots have their performance held back with that, or no? I know that if you use two GPUs in Crossfire 8x, it does effect the performance, so I'm curious if similar differences would be seen in this...

    Project: Deuce

That case is looking wicked man, seriously. The night shots are great, I love white LEDs!

    Now HERE'S a shipment...

I have absolutely no doubt that this shipment cost far more than the drives themselves (4x500GB 7200.11), mainly because it came directly from their factory in China. I've sent small packages to Australia and the surrounding area before, and that is expensive, so I don't want to know what it was...

NVIDIA to Enable SLI on Select X58-based Motherboards

Both can be blamed, but I still wish NVIDIA would open up SLI for all motherboards. They just proved that it can be done... they just choose not to. I understand it was a business decision, but I personally believe that SLI would look far more attractive to many more people if they knew that...

    Now HERE'S a shipment...

Prior to our IDF and NVISION trip, I requested four hard drives from Seagate for use in our benchmarking rigs, and when I got home, they were there waiting for me. Usually, this is non-eventful, but just check out the photo! Yes, that really is a half pallet, and four boxes. For four OEM hard...

    Building an Affordable "Skulltrail" System

Looking good man, but wow, you need a new chassis! It in no way represents the power it's pushing out, haha. Of course, if that's the monitor you are using... then it does indeed match. What are you using this beast for again?

    Lucid HYDRA Engine Multi-GPU Technology

I tend to agree, since if it's a chipset, it could simply be either integrated onto the motherboard or a special graphics card. If NVIDIA picked it up, they might very-well limit the technology to their own cards, which is not going to make the consumer the true winner. I think we'll learn a...

NVIDIA to Enable SLI on Select X58-based Motherboards

It's just a childish game that never seems to end. If I can't have that, then you can't have this. Intel wants NVIDIA to open up SLI and make it available for all motherboards, and since they won't, Intel won't allow NVIDIA to use QPI in their own chipsets. That's the way I've heard it, anyway...

    NVISION 08: Modded PCs

Something is wrong there. I'm not a modder in any sense, but that first-place mod just isn't 'pro' quality... it looks like something even I could throw together in a weekend. That's all I can say, really.

    NVISION 08: Modded PCs

Sadly, I have no idea who won most of anything. I'm sure you'd be able to find out at this point than I would though. Kind of surprised that they haven't made mention of it on their site.

    NVISION 08: Day 1

I'll likely post about it tomorrow... been gone all day (Thurs) so I had no time to write anything, sadly.

NVIDIA to Enable SLI on Select X58-based Motherboards

Something tells me that Intel wouldn't jump on the bandwagon to add SLI to their own X58 boards anyway. I could be wrong, but I just can't see them giving in and admitting defeat. They did it with Skulltrail, but if they do it with the upcoming boards, it's likely to add $100 to the price...
