Microsoft Announces $39.99 Upgrade Promo Pricing for Windows 8

The shutdown button is in the full list view in the app menu. Personally I think they've made it too cryptic. All the garbage you've got to go through to get anywhere.

Microsoft Announces $39.99 Upgrade Promo Pricing for Windows 8

As soon as I installed VB I heard duhn-dunk (the windows sound you hear when you unplug something USB) and my mouse would quit working for a bit and then pick back up. When I was in 8 on VB it wouldn't do it. Now that I've uninstalled VB it doesn't do it except in Skyrim (yeah I reinstalled it)...

Well, that went poorly. The Virtualbox software caused my PC to hiccup at the USB ports every so often and the mouse would stop responding. It only happened when Virtualbox wasn't running which is odd to say the least. I uninstalled it last night and my mouse hasn't stopped responding at all since.

EA to be a '100% Digital Company, Period'

If EA thinks that the people buying $949 million worth of hardcopies are going to buy digital instead, he's deluded. People buy stuff in media form for more reasons than just being luddites. Many don't have a means to buy things via digital downloads. He seems to forget that not everyone in the...

Microsoft Announces $39.99 Upgrade Promo Pricing for Windows 8

I mean it refused to load. I had to do a wipe/reload to get windows working again. Pitiful. Then there's the fact that there are no games whatsoever on it. Nothing, no solitaire, checkers, nada.

Microsoft Announces $39.99 Upgrade Promo Pricing for Windows 8

Heaven forbid you enter the wrong email address when you install the damned OS. I did and could not change it when I was in the OS so I created a new user account with the correct email (my hotmail account) and when I tried logging in with it it broke the freaking machine. This is the lamest OS...

I didn't see an option to skip it, just "next" and "cancel". Dunno if not filling in the info and hitting next would work as a skip or not.

Found the key, got it installed and put Start 8 on it. Can't say I like it. It wants to be associated with an email account, wants my phone number and I have to do a captcha screen to install it? WTF? I'll stick with 7, thanks for playing M$, better luck next time.

Microsoft Announces $39.99 Upgrade Promo Pricing for Windows 8

Thing is I've read that there certain things in the latest preview that aren't working or not working correctly. I don't feel like going to all the trouble to put a whole new OS on my PC if it's not ready for prime time as they say. Plus I really dislike dual booting and trying to 86 the...

Microsoft Announces $39.99 Upgrade Promo Pricing for Windows 8

I didn't do an upgrade, it was something I'd read as a caveat to doing an upgrade from Vista.

Plus, as it's an upgrade, I don't want to have it kill my win 7 license which is what happens. At least it did going from Vista to 7 if you upgraded. Yeah, buy the 8 upgrade, decide it sucks, mightily, and then have to buy another 7 license to go back to 7? Um, no.

Microsoft Announces $39.99 Upgrade Promo Pricing for Windows 8

If it was $3.99 I still wouldn't downgrade from 7 to 8. I'd rather go back to Vista. PC's are evolving at an alarming rate. Mine currently has more than 4 times the total computing power used in the first moon launch in 1969 yet M$, in their infinite wisdom, has decided that all the GUI eye...

Who's seen the new Cosmos II case?

I asked because it stands to reason that if you reduce the volume of air around each component and put a fan in there that evacuates the air completely you're increasing the air replacement per minute which means improved cooling.

A Heatsink That Spins at 2000 RPM? Enter the Sandia Cooler

I can't see how it would have an effective interface with the thing being cooled since it's, well you know, spinning.

    Firefox for Android

My OS is compatible but you have to have a minimum CPU clock speed for FF and mine doesn't meet the requirement.

I'd love to try it if my stupid smartphone would support it. Supports Opera but not teh fox.
