    Notebook woes!

Sorry to hear, Rob! Always left wondering when that happens to packages... especially when living in an apartment complex, and turns out the fedex person left the package with them and not at the door as stated... and the apartment office has no record of and can't find the package with...

Should Microsoft Offer Bounties for Discovering Windows Bugs?

It doesn't just save them cash, it was proven to be a more effective means to discover bugs. Microsoft credited that very thing with how polished Windows 7 was (versus Vista) in part to the longer and more open beta stages Many of which were run concurrently, were semi-public and tied into the...

    Intel's Next-Generation Atom, 'Silvermont', Due in 2013

Past due... it was silly for Intel to plan a five year refresh cycle for Atom, which as some may remember is the strategy Intel employed with the Pentium 4 / Netburst design. And is probably why Intel mentioned they would be switching to a two year product cycle from here on out with Atom.

There's a White iPad 2, but Still no White iPhone 4?

Well that's just it Psi, it's not like Apple hasn't produced white iPods for years, or even other white iPhones before for that matter. I get the feeling they just don't care to bother with the costs involved, and will just create one next generation if they decide to.

    HELP ME!!! Realtek SUCKS!!

Dunno, easier to fix junk audio than junk internet perhaps? I do use the Xonar DX, and although it's an older model it's a solid card. I would have to give kudos to ASUS keeping the drivers updated to fix issues with various games that crop up, too. I hope ya enjoy it :)

How Does a $3 HDMI Cable Compare to a $120 One?

Monoprice is pretty good, best cable prices around and they do their best to keep shipping rates down and give you pretty good rates to boot. Only thing better might be having their store next door. :)

An In-Depth Look at Ubuntu 11.04

Hm, so you're looking at DirectX then? Because I'd imagine OpenGL is better to start with if you want to build a Windows/Linux/Mac multiplatform game, and are building it from the ground up. Of course, OS X 10.6 only supports OpenGL 2.1, so that'd be a headache too. No idea when Apple will deem...

Apple Updates iMac Line-up; Features Thunderbolt and FaceTime HD

Probably better that they don't. It would be just like overclocking a laptop... most laptops already have cooling systems that are designed to be barely adequate, a few can't even handle sustained loads. Overclocking would just cook the system and lead to failures.

Intel Announces '3D' Tri-Gate Transistors; Set for Use with 22nm Production

Sooo 3D, but not the actual 3D circuits they mentioned some time back, where the core gets stacked vertically on itself. Interesting change though, glad to always see new innovations like this coming out of Intel. My only question is, will SB-E use this tri-gate process?

PlayStation Network Remains Down; Where Are We At?

It's amazing how little coverage this is getting in the main media, despite being larger than most of the data theft cases that preceded it which they covered for days. I didn't realize it but everyone that pays for time limited content (including MMORPGS) and Sony services is more than just...

    Portal 2 DLC #1 announced!

There's plenty of achievements though for crawling around to find secrets... some require even more work to figure out than the actual final levels! Took me my second try to find the hidden portrait and get Vitrified... I DID have to look up hard transmission, I never did find that one on my...

    Ubuntu 11.04 'Natty Narwhal' Released

Hm, well apparently there is VMWare's "Unity" which allows both OS's to share the same desktop, and then Ubuntu's Unity 3D accelerated interface. Oops! I played around with VMplayer 3.1.4 but even with 3d acceleration enabled it won't enable the Unity interface. Virtualbox users don't seem to...

    Portal 2 DLC #1 announced!

Yeah, it was easier than the last one. Less trick jumping and that sort of thing, and the co-op seemed easier still than single player. Now a few of the achievements are pretty hard if you try to earn them...

An In-Depth Look at Ubuntu 11.04

Rob will kill me for saying this, but sounds a little like another OS I know... 11.04 is the first Ubuntu (perhaps first Linux distro?) to ship with a hardware accelerated desktop. The last OS I know to do that was Vista... *ducks* And it always seems to come back to those GPU drivers doesn't it. ;)

    Acronis True Image 2011

No kidding, not even Windows uses a key HALF that size. As if appending more characters on the end will make it any harder to crack... again just punishes the legitimate buyers only.

    Acronis True Image 2011

Are you freaking serious? 71 characters?? They don't disable the paste function.... do they? If they did I WOULD demand a refund, good grief. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you, while people that download cracked copies won't ever even know. If their idea of software design is that...

Sony's PlayStation Network Comprised; All User Data Stolen

The bad news keeps rolling: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2011/04/ars-readers-report-credit-card-fraud-blame-sony.ars Numerous Ars readers are reporting their credit cards have been used fraudulently. That's pretty damn fast. Or maybe Sony waited more than just a few days to come clean...

Sony's PlayStation Network Comprised; All User Data Stolen

Excuse my french, but fucking incredible. If this turns out to be because of some stupidly lax security policies or employee error situations there will be more than just a heap of fallout over this. As it is I don't see how they can apologize over something like this and walk away, that isn't...

Researchers Discover that Your iPhone Tracks You
