    Striping RAID 0 problem...

For a new RAID 0 array it shouldn't require any time at all to set up?? Since no parity data is used the drives shouldn't require any time for initialization. Are you adding the drives to an existing array or something? I am not entirely following ya I think.

    Linux Kernel 3.0 Released

I totally agree. It's been version 2.6 for about 8 years now believe it or not, so it was past due to chop a digit off and make it 3.0. It suddenly feels modern again :p

Fake Apple Stores that Look Like the Real Thing

Wow, now that's amusing WSJ picked up the story. Thanks for the link and correction! The site indicates they don't know where the fake store sources its products, so I'm not ready to completely rule out that they're not fake on the word of one employee... but if they are indeed real, I guess...

Fake Apple Stores that Look Like the Real Thing

Apple won't allow it's manufacturers to produce unlicensed products, Apple is even more vigorous than most companies when it comes to securing their products whether it is the design and prototype phase, or the manufacturing and protection of IP. And given the costs involved, I don't think a...

Fake Apple Stores that Look Like the Real Thing

Heh, not likely to happen! Probably every single device and accessory in that fake store is one of those fake Apple devices... there's no way they could afford to buy real ones at market price and sell them, let alone the customers being able to afford US-prices on such devices.

Rosewill External HD Enclosure, aka "deathbox"

Yeah, those little docks are amazingly handy, I have a USB 2.0 version. Maybe during Black Friday I'll grab a USB 3.0 model... the only problem was the~35MB/s write bottleneck, but since the USB 3 docks completely fix that the things are just so infinitely handy... Almost everyone and their...

    Universe

I've seen that photo before, although I definitely do NOT remember most of those suns! VY Canis Majoris... such a size is mind-boggling. I thought that was the point where a sun couldn't sustain itself, heh. I wonder if THAT size a star is large enough to fuse iron...

Rosewill External HD Enclosure, aka "deathbox"

In that case, I'd say just grab a cheap MX-1 off ebay? There are plenty of 'em, and a few are still relatively new. Should be able to grab a like-new model for $15-20 shipped

I can agree with everything you've said here. True faith requires no proof, no evidence, it is truly blind faith. That is what most preach, and required to be a Christian, at least in some interpretations of the Bible at least. Watching and following many in the church made me believe...

Intel Unveils Sandy Bridge E Processors

No USB 3, but a silly number of SATA 6Gbps ports... I'll have to read that other article on this so called "trouble", but even regardless of that I don't see a point in upgrading. It doesn't look like it offers any real reason to over SB. In fact, I am starting to seriously wonder if X79...

Is Facebook Wrong in the Facebook vs. Google+ Battle?

No single entity can grow to be a large company without eventually doing some action that tarnishes their image or is perceived to have been wrong. Even is considering some of the most upstanding companies or nonprofits, I don't think a one hasn't had corruption or scandal or hasn't done some...

Firefox is Going 64-bit - What Should We Expect?

I'd disagree on that point, Marfig. I'd counter that the driving force for 64bit Windows adoption has been consumers wanting to access more than 3.2GB of system memory. Lets say someone is using XP or Windows 7 32bit, and they have 4GB of RAM. At most they'd really have 3.2GB. But that's not...

Firefox is Going 64-bit - What Should We Expect?

My question would be the 64bit plug-ins... I tried using the 64bit builds of Java and Flash, but they only work with a 64bit browser. And a 64bit browser can't use 32bit plugins. Other programs on my system had trouble using them, and some site plugins didn't work with them at all. I'd...

    Samsung ES-TOOL

Sorry Ben, Samsung and Toshiba are the only two manufacturers I've never bought a drive from, else I'd test this for ya.

Rosewill External HD Enclosure, aka "deathbox"

Nothing I can really say that hasn't been already mentioned... external drives always have had a shorter lifespan than those inside a PC for a large variety of reasons. External enclosures aren't always better either, because many of them utilize the very same poor quality controller boards that...

Sinking 773 Hours Into a Nintendo DS Game? It's Been Done

Putting those kinds of hours into a PC game might seem like a ton of time but nothing out of the unusual... but putting them into a handheld game system? That makes me cringe! Also reminds me of some article awhile back about doctors seeing a new generation of physical repetitive stress...

    Confusion with SLI dual-core cards

I think the only hurdle is the software.. the SLI software isn't designed for greater than four cores in SLI period. Diminishing returns has already well set in with four cores, so there was just never a reason to SLI more of them together and spend the time/expense to Q/A the drivers for it...

OCZ Vertex 3 Max IOPS 240GB SATA 6Gbit/s SSD Review

Optix, I must always tend to the safety of my flock. But thanks for reminding me, I have some more red shards and brimstone to sell on Spiral Knights... :D That's a fair enough point, although I think the majority of people can't stand to use 8-10 year old hardware, if the machine lasts that...
