What Would You Like to See from Intel's Enthusiast-class Motherboards?

I agree, I don't think they are doing anything wrong... but their boards never did overclock as well as GB or ASUS' did, so they lost some sales there. Had a few rough patches with BIOS's awhile back, and their motherboards traditionally didn't offer the same number of peripherals other...

"Hardcore" Gaming Products Make Me LOL

Mana energy drinks have been around LAN parties for years... :D I think someone reviewed that can of Bawls in a huge energy drink roundup two years ago, it's out there somewhere. Mana potion was in the same roundup too. ;)

The Not So Secret History of Super Mario Bros. 2

Oh my god, I had forgotten completely about that game! I suddenly remember it now... crazy colored terrain as you progress, and lots of frustration. :D That was a really hard game.

Firefox 4? Old News. Get Ready for Firefox 5!

Looks like it's all about the marketing now... bad sign for Mozilla if so.

    Microsoft Benchmarks Browser Power Consumption

That's exactly it. I've closely monitored laptop battery tests for years... what makes or breaks a browser or "web surfing" usage battery test is flash. Flash forces the processor to stay more active and that simply results in more power use, and it adds up quickly after a few hours with a...

Intel Launches "G3" SSDs as the Intel 320 Series

It is crazy Intel is using the same controller in the G2 for these drives... It's a shame Intel couldn't keep pace with some of the other controller development though, otherwise they wouldn't be in the position they are now. Or be buying Marvell controllers for their 510 series SSDs...

Mozilla Breaks Down Firefox 4 Download Stats

Hah! You can also tell because if you have Mumble running, it will display the OSD overlay ontop of every Firefox 4 window... Hopefully someone will figure out a way to prevent such side effects in the future... Still want my side-stacking tabs though!!

    new build 2.0

I've not heard of the 995X... I may be wrong but I think people got confused with the 990X, which Intel just recently released to replace the 980X. Regardless unless the program can make very good use of the additional cores/threads, I'd say just stick to a 2500 or 2600 chip for future builds...

What Makes Your 'Favorite' Browser Your Favorite?

The reason I have lots of tabs open are several-fold. When browsing forums such as Techgage, if I don't open every new post within somewhere between 15-30 minutes, the forum will auto-mark them all as read from the date I first accessed the forum frontpage. So for most forums I simply queue them...

    new build 2.0

You can put as much RAM as you can squeeze into the slots, your only limitation is what capacities they manufacture at ;) 16GB is easily possible now... Half of my loop has been running for two years, had to rework it awhile back so some of it is new. I still have some extremely discolored...

Pepsi Introduces Bottle Developed from 100% Plant Material

What Makes Your 'Favorite' Browser Your Favorite?

I keep all of my toolbars horizontal. But tabs are better stacked... they take up less room, don't require scrolling or grouping, ~30 can be viewed or selected from at a glance. And the page titles are actually readable... almost any webpage will have unused room on the sides with larger...

Alright, second time around PC build

Yeah, there's not a significant difference from the loss of L2 cache, so if you plan to overclock I'd suggest the 2500K and pocket the savings... or use the savings on a new SF-2200 SSD when those launch. :D

    new build 2.0

If it will be running the same workloads, which you've stated can't spawn or fully utilize 12 thread most of the time, then you might as well stick to a Sandy Bridge chip and save yourself some real money. For the cost of a 990X or 975 you might as well go Sandy Bridge, buy a good SSD to pair...

What Makes Your 'Favorite' Browser Your Favorite?

Sidebar stacking tabs. Firefox has a plugin that emulates this functionality Opera offers by default, but the implementation is pretty bad. After all these years and especially after the widescreen migration, one would expect to see browsers offering more vertical real estate by placing tabs on...

Netbook - plugged in not charging error

Could mean the battery need replacing, how old is it? Do you have any other batteries, and do those work okay? If ya don't, then I'd suggest grabbing a pencil eraser and carefully cleaning the battery contacts on both the battery & the laptop, using a toothbrush and can of air instead if...
