    Battlefield : Bad Company

Picked it up today. Game was released on X360 & PS3 Mini-Review: A solid game, best of the series yet, but only by a small margin. Makes you wonder what else they can do for Battlefield 3 (aside from y'know, releasing it on PC with stunning detail in comparison to the consoles). They've...

AMD HD 4850 - Best Mid-Range GPU Ever? Yes.

Question because I haven't been keeping up with ATI's drivers/cp since I switched to an 8800GTX a while ago... Does ATI do flat-panel scaling yet? (None/Stretch/Correct Aspect Ratio)

Raid Controllers : Onboard VS PCI?

Drives are less than a year old This IS going to be a boot drive but I run this rig strictly for performance and already have a "fresh install" image ready. No redundancy is required or I'd be more interested in something like RAID5 Not using Vista, XP32 I did this before on my old A8N-E and...

    16-year-old survives 25,000V blast

I wear a pair of steel-toed boots in the winter/wet season, but only because I don't have other boots and they're not exactly your bulky-I-work-in-a-factory-all-day boots. My regular shoes would fall apart.

Raid Controllers : Onboard VS PCI?

Tempted to put my 250gb Barricuda's into a Raid0 array again, not sure if I should go with an onboard raid controller (new mobo) or just keep my current setup and grab a PCI Sata/Raid controller. Thoughts? I'm pretty clueless on this one. (Edit) And let's this a budget of 100$ while we're at it :).

    Headset suggestions

I use the following... It's not amazing, but I like it better than my old Sennheiser PC-150. http://www.plantronics.com/north_america/en_US/products/computer/multi-use-headsets/audio-350 They also offer a USB version of the headset. What originally caught my eye on this was the design of it...

nvidia 9xxx series DVi to HDMI woes

There's an overscan compensation fix available... also lets you tweak the old buggered up flat panel scaling (dunno if other cards have this trouble, 8800s certainly do). http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=34832

Anyone go to a Black Friday door crasher?

Yes, NCIX's deals did suck. With NCIX Boxing Day is the big one. We had more fun with the road trip than we did with the sale.

    OCing my Q6600

Gigabyte P35-DS3L 2gb OCZ-DDR2-800 Q6600 G0 Too lazy to type the rest. Yesterday I was running an unstable OC of 400x8 for a while, idle temps ~36, load temps ~55-60. After a minute or two of prime95 it'd crash. Before I went to bed, I thought I might try 356x9, booted fine, temps...

Anyone go to a Black Friday door crasher?

Well, it takes us about 90 mins - 120 mins to get to Bangor from St. Andrews. At 5am, after being up all night, we end up taking the I95 out of Bangor (dunce cap time). Now, bring up this map while you read the next part :). http://www.maine-map.org/maine-road-map.gif We keep going to...

Überclok Pre-Overclocks Their Machines To The Limit

Well, GPU OCs via driver aren't the most stable anyway, chances are they run factory OC'd cards in them or something.

Geez, the stock fans on the p182 don't help that much at all. Might replace them with a couple of S-FLEXs next time I put an order in. I threw them both down to low and each core temp went up 1 degree on idle. On the other hand, it's now so quiet that I feel lonely, lol, so I may just leave em...

    AMD Unveils Phenom Processors

I usually build AMD systems when people ask me for a "cheap gaming rig". If these do infact drop below 200$, I'll consider them. Otherwise I'll stick with Q6600 and soon Q9450 based systems as far as gaming enthusiast rigs go.

Anyone go to a Black Friday door crasher?

A few classmates and I left southern NB at about 11PM and headed down to Bangor, Maine. By the time we got there (12:30/1AM EST) the Best Buy line easily had 1,000 people. So we went to Circuit City. A friend of mine managed to pick up a Samsung 245BW for 329$ (+86$ at the border). I was...

Hopefully it won't... Damn though, 70c per core with water.. That's a HOT chip. To my dismay, my tower, even with the mass outtake area in the back, does NOT heat my room. I've got my jacket on since I really don't want to clean the heater and turn it on. It's a medium sized room, maybe 12 by 12.

    Looking for cooling suggestions...

Yes, but keep in mind prime95(heat/power test, NOT a blend test) took me to 60c and crashed after about 70 seconds. edit; Blend test took me to about 54c load, but was stable. edit; This is with my P182 fans on medium (they're relatively quiet on medium, loud is a vacuum, low is whisper quiet...

Yea, that's what he's talking about. I just bought the 1600RPM version. Running it on my Ultra-120 Extreme. It's great! Q6600 OC'd to 3.2ghz, vcore 1.376v idle temps ~37C, (38, 34, 33, 36) crysis and 3dmark load temps ~48C prime95 managed to take it up to 60c and killed it on the heat/power...

    Benchmarking High Scores

I need to work on mine a bit, I'll be posting an idiot-thread in a few minutes. Here's my score :). (3.2ghz, ignore coretemp, it's because the volts are on auto I'm assuming, temps are fantastic though)
