Indeed. CorsairGeorge and everyone else. I made heaps of copy/pastes of this thread to OneNote for later perusal. An area I know very little is an area worth learning.

    First Impressions of Google's Facebook-killer, Google+

I do share a similar dislike for social networking. I think (after trying social network so many times) email, web forums, bugtrackers and Usenet will forever remain my means of interaction in the internet, while my blog will forever remain as my more passive attempt at "reaching out". I just...

Taking a Look at the Latest Steam Hardware Survey

Because 4GB is a common dual channel configuration, but not good enough for 64 bit. I take more juice from a 4Gb system in 32 bit mode (even knowing I'm not using it all), than if it was 64 bit where I definitely would run into memory problems. Once memory gets upgraded, there's no reason to...

Taking a Look at the Latest Steam Hardware Survey

Is it? And massively? Last time it managed to do that, if I recall was on a single quarter last year. And it was far from "massively". It was something like 7% if memory serves me right. But even assuming they did outsell Nvidia, those sales aren't translating into usage figures everywhere...

LOL! Couldn't think of a better name to that voltage monitor in these circumstances. Do you realize you just beat the top Extreme score on 3DMark, by a little more than 2.5x?

    The good ole days?

Is there any way I can block entire threads from view? You know, just so that I can think of work instead of being tempted into gaming a classic. Damn you, :techgage:!

Thankfully browsers show link addresses in plain sight. And because your post was suspicious, I made sure to look before I clicked ;) Seing "nyanit" in there was all I needed. I don't, ermm, understand the "lulz" web culture. Never did. I'm blessed with lots of sense of humor. Truly. I laugh...

Taking a Look at the Latest Steam Hardware Survey

Nice. Thanks Tharic. Some of the trends are hopeful. DirectX 9 keeps dropping and having the highest drop percentage. One should hope it eventually phases out and makes life easier to developers. Similarly it's nice to see Windows XP drop (and also consistently being the biggest drop)...

    The good ole days?

I remember wanting a 3dfx glide video card baaaad, because Diablo II used it to give a cool (at the time) 3D effect to the game. Who would have known... ... well, everybody, but me I guess :p When I finally got a Glide ready card, games were no longer using it and I didn't even know

Making a Living Developing Xbox Live Indie Games? Don't Count On It

AppStore is possibly a beast of its own. Mobile app stores for mobile devices in general, may be in fact. This paragraph of yours made a lot of sense to me. It's why I couldn't help avoiding drawing comparisons. "If AppStore is a huge success, which unmistakably it is, why then consoles are...

Making a Living Developing Xbox Live Indie Games? Don't Count On It

No doubt Microsoft and Sony can do more to bring Indie games more visibility, recognition and contribute to users interest. Both in their online shop interfaces, but also by enabling game features that are currently only available to AAA titles. I'm not sure how the Apple Store handles indie...

secAU Kicks Off Hard Drive Overclocking Competition

LOL! What a crazy idea. Sexy crazy. :) I guess 500 GB is a small hard drive by today's standards. So there should be plenty of folks trying. This contest will probably go as the single most destructive event to hard drives in computing history. For some reason I couldn't stop thinking of the...

Thermaltake Level 10: The what NOT thread

So, we will know from the great Techgage Contest: Thermaltake Level 10 GT Chassis who you would like to design your computer components. That's fantastic, but it is only half of the issue. The other important question on everyone's mind is: "But who wouldn't you want to?!". That's right. Let's...

Thermaltake Level 10 GT Full-Tower Chassis Review

Gorgeous, big, techy, over-the-top. I love every bit of it. I look at a case like this as deserving only of the best components. Like a private club who just doesn't let anyone inside. Only the cream of the city. What impresses me more is the design of course. But it's a computer case, no...

    Universe

For anyone interested in life on other planets, the odds of such from a scientific perspective, the best book ever written about the subject was from the Russian scientist I. S. Shklovskii in the middle 60s. Despite some of the cosmological discussions being now understandably outdated, the...

    Mozilla Releases Thunderbird 5.0

Hmm... Guess I should give it a go. Been using Thunderbid for many years, where I centralize both my gmail, work and personal mail accounts. But this rapid release cycle thingy... I cannot afford to be a thunderbird beta tester. Email is a fundamental tool for my work. Not just actual wage...

    PC Gaming isn't dead....again.

The "PC gamming is dead" meme was obviously invented by those with the latest console and a not enough good computer at home. Being that those computers can't run the latest and the best, console games will no doubt look better and more modern. It was also invented by those that, having both a...
