Conroe *so* close to breaking 5GHz

As always, I grabbed this from XtremeSystems. PRTeamJapan has almost broke 5GHz on the Conroe.. 4.97GHz to be exact. That helped get a 10.3s 1M Super Pi run. Maybe 5.1GHz needed to break through 10s?

    Who's going AM2?

The prices for AM2 are excellent imo. It's the DDR2 that will hurt the pocketbook.

    Arctic Cooling Silentium T2

Hate loud computer noise? Arctic Cooling has an all-in-one solution that already has the proper fan layout and directional airflow you need. However, it also has it's fair share of problems. Does the bad outweigh the good, in this 'case'? Be sure to check out my review of the case! Feel free...

    IceMat Black Siberia

I guess so, I really have no idea since I've never used them. If that was the case, I would go for the USB. I can't vouch for the quality of the surround sound though. In the pictures for the USB, especially in the 'in the box' section, it doesn't once show the USB connector. Not really sure...

    IceMat Black Siberia

I would get the non-USB version. Generally, USB ones sound good, but can sometimes run into problems. I have heard from fellow CS: Source players that theirs have 'kicked' out from time to time during gameplay. I have never had that happen, and I have used USB before. There is really no sound...

    New rig in the works

Sounds good man. I agree with Matt, Monarch has a good selection. As for the ram, if you happened to buy stuff with 5-5-5 timings, when you build it, try to see if it will run at 4-4-4. Most PC2-6400 ram I have used does, and it makes a pretty substantial difference over 5-5-5.

    IceMat Black Siberia

I think it would be hard to get a headset that is 'perfect' for this reason. Though, I have used four different headsets in the past year, and the Siberia was by far the most comfortable when it comes to glasses. Out of any headset I have used, this would be your best bet. I don't know of any...

    IceMat Black Siberia

I switched just because I prefer the way the mic is on the 601i Altec Lansings. They also have surround sound, so some things sound a little better. I don't have the headphones anymore, I just gave them to my sister before she moved. I used them for months though, and played games for hours. I...

    IceMat Black Siberia

Hmm, I haven't used the IceMat for a while, but I wear glasses. I had no problems wearing them for hours at a time. They've actually been some of the best headphones I've used for that reason.

    New rig in the works

Well, AMD still generally owns the gaming side of things. Even where Conroe beats the pants of AMD in extreme algorithm based tests, it falls short in gaming benchmarks. If he wants AMD and AM2, the choices are not THAT easy right now. There are a few motherboards out, but it's hard to pick...

    Logitech MX3000 Cordless Desktop

I wouldn't really recommend ditching Logitech all together. I agree with you though.. this kit is problematic. I still have issues with it from time to time, but have had no problem with anything else they have made. The -biggest- problem of the 3000 is the stupid receiver that they included...

    Brando USB Sunglasses MP3 Player

It seems that MP3 playback has permeated every part of our lives. With the proliferation of MP3 devices on the market we find them in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and configurations. Today we look at Brando's sporty MP3 Sunglasses and see if they're more than just a gimmick. After reading...

Zalman 9500AT Intel 775 CPU Cooler

The problem is not with the arm used to raise the socket cover, it's a problem with not enough clearence for the door on the socket to raise up. I rotated the included bracket all four possible ways, and neither would allow the door to full open. I had someone else e-mail me regarding this...

Some of you may be wondering about the avatar I’ve used throughout the month. It’s a CD cover from the ska band Sublime. In my opinion, Sublime is one of the most influential bands of the 90s. Nirvana inspired many bands out there, and I strongly believe Sublime had the same effect. <o></o>...
