    CARD READER

Could be. I only use 4GB SD cards. I don't have any readers around anymore though. Since they were useless, I just chucked them, so I can't confirm.

Buffalo Firestix PC2-8000 on EVGA 680i

I don't believe Crucial provides cherry picked modules, simply because the kit I have probably would have performed even better. I could be wrong though, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were one of the few who didn't send out picked kits. That said, I'd like to see performance results from a...

    ASUS WL-700gE Wireless Router

I wonder if it's possible that the 700gE could go through the same upgrade? I'd find it weird that a firmware update could take care of that, thought. Chances are they will release a Draft N version of the router if it sells well enough.

Buffalo Firestix PC2-8000 on EVGA 680i

I didn't mean to make it sounded like you didn't have a fan, I just mean you shouldn't need one at that voltage. They would be warm, but not finger numbing hot. If I have time today, I'll see what the Tracer can handle at 600MHz. NewEgg sells those for $175 after rebate and Mwave for $199, so...

    ASUS A8JS 14inch Widescreen Notebook

I've never met a sleezy hooker who had any stickers. Last time I asked for a gold star! Oops.

    E6600 @ 4GHz on Water, Windows Bootable

Ahh thanks. I don't keep up on that as well as I should.

    ASUS A8JS 14inch Widescreen Notebook

Sorry for the late reply, a lot has been going on around here. I just hauled it out, and I do believe it's solid construction... I don't think you have anything to worry about. It's hard to call it "plastiky" even though most of it is plastic. I'm fussy, but I have no problems with it's build...

    Beginners Guide to Linux Desktops

As far as I know, you cannot change the colors with the default GNOME terminal, although I can't say for sure. I'd check, but I currently don't have GNOME installed. If you have KDE installed, you can probably load up the same terminal program I use (Konsole). Just hit ALT+F2 and see if konsole...

    ...wherefore art thou Linux?

That is the oldest Sabayon review around, there is a newer one: http://techgage.com/article/sabayonlinux_33/ I do recommend Sabayon for newbies to Linux, simply because it takes care of almost everything for you, like video/audio/3d/internet/bluetooth/etc. As much as I love the distro, it's...

    E6600 @ 4GHz on Water, Windows Bootable

Why is it the BIOS voltage is always higher than what it actually is? I am not sure if this is just with the eVGA board, but it's something I noticed, since it tells you the current voltage right beside your selection. 1.7V is a lot regardless. You gotta be careful ;-)

    CARD READER

Card readers and ANY OS have a hard time getting along. I had two Crucial and one Sandisk card reader and had nothing but trouble in both WinXP and Linux.

Buffalo Firestix PC2-8000 on EVGA 680i

DDR2-1200 without the need of a fan is great! Apparently the Tracer 8500 kit I have can do the same, but I haven't tested it out. (cf)Eclipse has hit 618MHz 5-5-4-7 with 2.15v I believe. I'd be curious to know if it is indeed your memory controller. I haven't had a problem with the 9+ kits...

    E6600 @ 4GHz on Water, Windows Bootable

That is one sweet overclock! I've never taken the time to find the "max" overclock for my E6600, but I am wanting to try now. I am not quite sure I will come close to that one... How much voltage were you pumping into that baby?

    Crucial 2GB DDR2-1066 Ballistix Tracer

No, sadly. I haven't had as much time as I'd like to tweak deeply lately. Too much content to write and not enough time =/ If I can find time this weekend I will give it a shot.

    Crucial 2GB DDR2-1066 Ballistix Tracer

It's not often that Crucial releases a new high-end kit, but they've finally caught up to everyone else and released Ballistix clocked at DDR2-1066. Today we are taking a look at the Tracer version and look to see how far we can push them over stock. You can read the review here and discuss it...

    Cooler Master CoolViva Pro

As their name suggests, Cooler Master is no stranger to cooling products. They were however new to graphics card cooling, but no longer thanks to their CoolViva Pro. We are taking their first GPU cooler for a spin to see if their legendary quality is carried over here. You can read the review...

    Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 500GB

I wouldn't worry about temps really. They do get warm, but it won't affect the lifespan unless it REALLY gets hot (60C). I just prefer to keep a fan on them to keep things cool. If the drive is real hot, it's more difficult to keep the rest of the case cool.

OCZ 2GB PC2-9200 Reaper HPC Edition

Well, it's the fault of the FBGA chips really. They are designed for good thermal dissipation, but they are not as secured to the PCB like the old style TSOP chips were. You -can- give it a shot if you want, although I don't recommend it. These modules especially, since the spreader is more...

    Top 10 Free Linux Games

The reason it's semi-difficult is because it eludes spammers greatly. We do not have a problem with spammers like other forums do. I'll change back to use the ImageMagick library instead of GD and see if it effects the spammers. It should be easier to read. Let me know if you try again and...

    Cedega 6.0

You make good points. I know at one time Cedega did rely heavily on the Wine fork, but I didn't know anything changed. It's hard to find reliable information on this. I'll add an addendum with your comments, since you explain it well.
