From our front-page news: If you take pride in your music collection, you no doubt want to stick with reliable applications that perform the job you need done, and can do that job well. I've been a user of dBpoweramp for a while, but somehow missed the fact that R12 was released last summer. The...

    Sound Reference Chart

It's not a bad idea... it would take a fair amount of work though. I'll throw this idea by Rory and see what he thinks.

Is Defragging On a Budget Possible?

From our front-page news: On a Windows machine, a big part of life is hard drive defragging - the process of stacking all of the blocks together to make for quicker access. According to the Workers' Edge blog at Cnet, defragging can also increase the life of your hard drive. The theory sounds...

    Gateway XHD3000 30-inch Wide-Screen

Gateway, not content to let Dell and others hog the limelight in the display market, have recently launched their XHD3000 monitor. It offers a wide-range of connectivity options along with bright picture and an incredible upscaler. When said and done, this is one model we can heartily recommend...

    Brawl

I have no idea why people who play Brawl are so cocky. They are playing a fighting game with cartoon characters... But go ahead, have fun Brawling with your Wii all night long...

    ASUS VW222 22-inch Wide-Screen

We added an addendum in the article because ASUS strongly believes we received a defective unit. In truth, we should not have published the article until we spoke to them first, so we were wrong there. Matt is receiving a new monitor this week and will follow-up with his thoughts shortly after.

University Uses BitTorrent to Distribute Patches to 6,500 PCs

From our front-page news: It would be impossible for anyone to argue that the most common BitTorrent use is piracy, but stories like the one out of INHOLLAND University may result in a different slew of adopters. This university houses over 6,500 desktop computers in ten different locations, and...

    Show off your desktop!

You guys have great desktops. Merlin, I love that wallpaper, it's great! Here's my latest... which hasn't changed much since last time. The icon applications themselves never usually move, but once in a blue moon I go out and see if I can find new graphics to use. I like my latest "Home" icon...

    ASUS VW222 22-inch Wide-Screen

The display market is chalked-full of models that fill up the quality spectrum, from sub-par up to high-end. The VW222 falls into the sub-par category, sadly, with overall poor color representation and noticeable screen-door effects, resulting in a model that should not be considered for...

    Not bad speeds

Greg is in a somewhat similar situation... it sucks. He's a little further than that from town, but there are close neighborhoods that have at least cable I believe. WiMax needs to succeed, I think.

Yorkfield Processors to Start Selling Next Week.

I don't read news or the forums throughout the weekend, usually, so if something exciting happens, I'm usually slow to notice it. I also don't post news on the weekend... it's a chore enough during the week ;-)

    Not bad speeds

$65 for 20Mbps upload?!?!?! I pay $45 per month for 7Mbps down and 512Kbps up. The most expensive package is $100, which ups the speed to 18Mbps down and 1Mbps up... complete ripoff. Kudos to Verizon. I wish something like that was available in my area. sbrehm, your internet speeds make me...

    Ubunu 7.10

I don't recommend Gentoo unless you have plans to sit and read through related documents. For a first-time Linux user, I'd recommend something else first, then move to Gentoo later if it interests you.
