Hmm, the heat issue would be a good one... as in, it's plausible. I know my single 8800GTS' get warm, and the barbs on the ASUS EAH3870 X2 card here can reach 78°C at full load, so I'm sure the NVIDIA cards would have en even rougher time. As Metallica put it, "Sad But True".

I believe the software is only required to enable the SRS TruSurround HD functionality. Other then that, I don't think the lack of software would impact the sound quality of speakers that much.

I think you pretty much said it. It's sad that such a great company ran into such trouble. I just hope this comeback is for real. I think their games will appeal to old-school gamers and new gamers alike.

Given how the DVI ports are laid out, I am assuming it's still the former. Naked shots of the card in the past have always shown two PCBs, so I'm not sure if that's changed since then (or if it's possible to change that so quick).

I agree with that one. $300 for speakers WOULD be worth it to many people. Some people value music and and gaming fidelity over actual performance, so this would be a reasonable purchase. Or, it could be that the consumer already has a kick-ass computer and just wants an audio upgrade.
