Intel's P45 Shows Promise, As Does ASUS' P5Q Deluxe

Thanks for the info... I'd still love to know the reason it's "fluff", but I have no way to prove otherwise, so whatever. It's foolish regardless. First the megabyte race, megapixel race, gigahertz race and now the power phase race?

P5E VS GA-EX-38-DS4 VS IX38 QUADGT SPEEDSTER VS LANPARTY DK X38-T2R

Hmm, strange about the P5E having a bad rap. I've had great luck with the P5E3 Deluxe and Premium. I don't have any real recommendations between those listed... since I haven't seen them. I do know I've liked the P5E Deluxe and also Gigabyte's X38-DQ6.

    LG Blue Ray Burner

    >$200 to watch high-definition video on your PC sounds like a good price to me. I wonder how good video would look coming through DVI, or even HDMI on that thing, compared to a PS3 with HDMI.

    NVIDIA's GDDR5 Stance Differs from AMD's

Well it is faster, so it's not as tough they are lying. It's just a matter of how much bandwidth we need, and quite frankly, we probably don't need that much. But if AMD has other plans for their GPUs, like robust calculations (or for those who want to fold), then the GDDR5 might prove beneficial.

    Logitech diNovo Edge

I wish I could comment on that, but I haven't had the keyboard since I posted this review. I know for a fact that the battery-life is pretty good though. I gave the keyboard to my sister, and she used it for over a month before she needed to charge it. As for battery replacement, that does...

    Sabayon Linux 3.2

I tried looking for that file, but it seems impossible. It seems quite obscure. You may want to give this tutorial a try: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=213908 It doesn't seem to require that driver.

Windows XP's SP3 Makes Reverting to IE6 Impossible

Still a rather strange issue though... I've never had it with any browser, so I'm hoping it's just Opera for some reason. At least it's an easy fix, I guess.

Funpidgin Released, Fixes Crippled Pidgin Feature

I've had great luck with AIM and Pidgin, but have not had the best luck with MSN. Though, I am unsure if it's actually Pidgin or the MSN servers though. I regularly get "Message could not go through" type of errors, which is incredibly annoying. Another problem is that once in a while, even...

    Top 10 Firefox 3 Features

Tell me about it. I wasn't sure if that was Lifehacker's or Mozilla's, but I'll assume the latter. I know for a fact that Firefox 2.0 is far more of a memory hog than that chart represents... and I'm not even going by my awkward Linux setup. FF3 is still looking completely unappealing to me. I...

Intel to Launch Q9650 in Q3 to Replace QX9650

I'm with you there. It's too bad, as it would be a stellar chip for that price. Unless of course you want a Q9450 instead, then just OC the heck out of it.

Intel's P45 Shows Promise, As Does ASUS' P5Q Deluxe

I'm still confused as to how they know it's not a true 16-phase power solution. I wish I was more keen on the electrical side of things, then I could decide for myself. If it's not a real 16-phase, then what the heck are all those MOSFETs and chokes doing? I'll be receiving one of Gigabyte's...

    Grr, motherboard benchmarks!

Well, if I was keenly interested on making sure I was hitting the absolute top-end FSB overclock, I'd consider my options, but in truth, I don't care that much. To me, 500MHz is a sweet spot, and I know that the E8400 can handle it. The best chance of a higher FSB would occur with the Dual-Core...

    NVIDIA's GDDR5 Stance Differs from AMD's

From our front-page news: I posted yesterday about AMD's decision to use GDDR5 chips with their upcoming Radeon 4000-series, and from what it seems, NVIDIA doesn't share the same ambition that they do. At the Nanotech: The Circuits Blog... blog, a quote from NVIDIA doesn't discredit GDDR5 at...

    Top 10 Firefox 3 Features

From our front-page news: With Firefox 3 right around the corner, have you thought about upgrading now? I personally have, but for some reason, the latest version looks incredibly ugly under my Gentoo Linux, on top of having ugly fonts... so I've stayed away. On my laptop, though, the latest...

Will Microsoft Become 'Directionless' After Bill Gates Steps Outside?

From our front-page news: With Microsoft's chairman set to "retire" next month, people are wondering what's going to happen within the company, and what direction, if any, they will go. There's little debate that Bill Gates has been the lead driving force for the company, and one of the reasons...

    ASUS Shows Faith in Splashtop

Well, what you should understand is that Splashtop is -not- a regular OS. It's a minimalistic environment that's set out to accomplish very basic tasks. There is no way to install new apps, or modify the OS whatsoever, so it's really impossible to tell it's even Linux. In the future, flash...

    Gigabyte GA-X48T-DQ6

We used to deal with DFI quite a bit, but then their press department changed over and I gave up on trying to get through to them. So that's the main reason we haven't touched a DFI board in a while, as lame as it might sound. They'll be at Computex in a few weeks though, so I'll touch base...

    Sabayon Linux 3.2

Hah, glad to hear your experiences have gone well. I'm especially glad to hear that SL has gotten so big that it's actually being strapped to magazines now. That's excellent. As for the ALSA issue, I am not sure what causes it, but I have the same issue on my main machine, which runs Gentoo...

Jack Thompson: guilty on 27 charges

Haha, JT (not Justin) is one twisted individual. On one hand, I kind of feel bad for him, because he's obviously got some issues, but on the other, I don't, simply because he's needlessly stirred up so much in the industry, and he's one of the key reasons GTA gets such a bad rap. Last week, I...

    NVIDIA's GTX 200-series Specs Revealed

I'm really curious on the prices as well. From a specs perspective, these new cards could prove a massive upgrade, so we might very well go back to the $400+ for a single GPU... although it's really hard to say right now. I'm actually kind of excited though.
