    water cooling

into the rebuild, update, & re-use I finally dug the pump out of a WC system that I have been using for ... 7 years ... really. Well, when did the Athlon MP come out? This is a dual socket iWill MPX2 motherboard. I had completely forgotten what pump was in the system. Its an Eheim 1048 & I'm...

The Quest for Useful Real-World SSD Benchmarks

You've got it! 14 hours behind the wheel .. ugh ... I don't like to think about it, but have done many times. About reviewing SSDs, another app might be for movie downloads. A couple of years ago I built 1 computer dedicated for use as an entertainment center & it has had many movie...

The Quest for Useful Real-World SSD Benchmarks

Ahhh, of course ... I was still tired yesterday from driving halfway across the country

The Quest for Useful Real-World SSD Benchmarks

Here is a quicky description of the technology. I think the "Disadvantages" section could be a good area to focus testing in. Testing here is perhaps a bit pessimistic, but for what the drives sell for I would like to know what drive lifetime is. How quickly does a SSD slow to HDD speeds. And...

    Has the Nintendo Wii Stalled?

I wonder if down loadable movies is a market that has even been proven yet? Everyone & their dog has it or will within days it seems like. I think better games is the answer for game consoles. This is kind of like even more 100s of channels of HD. The content of which was cr@p before at...

Taking iPhone for Ransom, Then Asking for $7 for the Fix?

I do have mixed emotions about this. Jailbroken phones bought by the "stupid" thinking that they really have something should have to pay. Education has a cost and $7 is nothing ... you wonder *why* the $7, why not $10 or $100?? I live in the world of "IP" or intellectual property & shouldn't...

    Building an Affordable "Skulltrail" System

I think *that* was the smoke test & fortunately no smoke. Send that one back ASAP, try a replacement as I think I would.

    Building an Affordable "Skulltrail" System

... so it sort of of does a slow snap as it seats into the socket. Not to keep questioning your ability to insert a card, but remote control-wise it is difficult to tell if I feel what you feel! ;) Intel motherboards, I have an Intel "bad ax" aka D975XBX ... and I have to say that it has been a...

Are You Upgrading to Windows 7?

Magic words work for me in situations like that. Or, at lieast I feel better after choice utterances. Hmmm, so no generic video, but USB is enabled:confused:

    water cooling

I agree & I am glad that you commented & reminded me about that 1/2 degree ... ple-e-e-ease. As well as the lack of mention of curing time. That gets into psuedo-science and just knowing when to quit while you are ahead!:p Thanks for the Xeon 5600 ... I swear I googled but...

    water cooling

@Kougar Probably smart ignoring the + results. Tests like these are not documented well enough for reproducibility. Reproducibility is the test of any experiment. I wonder if there is a Xeon equivalent to the hexa-cores?

    TIM ...

Thing 1, Thing 2, Thing 3 ... I thought I was reading a new Dr. Seuss book! I wonder how they would perform in 3 months or so.

    water cooling

I agree with the logic & think that is what I will do.:techgage::cool: I had not realized that 32 nm CPUs were so close. I also find it interesting that I cannot find anything on the Intel web site about gulftown. I see it in the "public roadmap" listed once, but no information ...

Intel Pulls 34nm SSD TRIM-enabled Firmware Due to Possible Bug

So, in a nutshell, wait until you are running W7 unless that is *now* & then maybe wait 6 months before getting a SSD ... expecting more TRIM bugs, yet to be discovered, are solved.

    TIM ...

I laugh as I draw you into my ... distorted ... sense of humor ... hoo hoo ha ha haaaa (in a very Halloween way). Although no one ever said I had a good (or is that ba-ad) Halloween laugh.:( Not wanting to get rash, or anything. A coworker, back when I had real jobs, did raise the question...

    water cooling

I have not ordered it yet ... blasted customers are interrupting me all of the time. :) And, I have a short trip this week & long next week which are not conducive to computer building. You make a very compelling argument. It is certainly easier to set aside a $250 chip than a $1000 chip. A...

    NZXT M59 Mid-Tower

For the price, I could really like this case. In the review the SilverStone is a cooler box but the best price I see for it is $163:eek:

    R.I.P.: Geocities

My sentiments exactly although it is not from good stuff that I found. Geocities was blocked or got blocked by every company network I ever used. The few times I could access the pages, it was virus city or porn. Who would have thought that an "archie" for "PA9000" (a high end HP processor...

    water cooling

thanks Kougar & timely find for the link about the Apogee XT review. I have no problem staying with Swiftech anyway. I am still trying to figure out what the "+" indicates with the XT+. The system currently has 3/8" tubing with plastic press fits. I got this as a kit at the time as it all...
