    ASUS Radeon EAH5850

Nice review & upon reading it, I put "EAH5850" in my watch & notify me lists. The 1st thing that happened at egg was that it from out of stock to deactivated. Now it is back to out of stock  woohoo!

HDMI 1.4 Standard Brings Revised Cable Badging

Much of my work is about designing the cable to connector to PCB interface and is no trivial thing, but I rarely have the opportunity to look at much less play with the applications. I will try to dig into this standard to see if there is smoke & mirrors:eek: involved with the variations.

Intel's Gulftown Reviewed Months Prior to Launch

Looking good, I am all about building up the I7-920 system with an eye for upgrading to a Gulftown when possible. I am an OC-er & will have plenty to talk about ... when I have something to talk about:cool:

When Black Friday Deals Are Not Deals at All

In my case with Tiffany's, it was actually the Tiffany online web site that I place the order. So it was someone inside the Tiffany supply/order reception process that tried to take my CC#

Smoking Around Apple Computers May Void Warranty

GO APPLE! I had fits at people that used to eat much less smoke (in the day) around even my Trash 80! (aka TRS 80 by Radio Shack). They laughed at me then too. :(

    water cooling

So some day a recent customer will actually pay me ... very large check. Kind of irrelevant when you have had *nothing* for a month. But I think I will get this on Friday this week barring snail mail screw ups & delays this time of year. Hopefully this will happen before all of that nonesense...

When Black Friday Deals Are Not Deals at All

People (my daughters) laugh at me because i never buy anything at a mall. "Dad, I'm at the mall. What do you want for Christmas? Do you even know where the mall is?" This mall was about 6 miles away from me. When they were growing up I got scammed there too many times and at the usual places JC...

    Apple Patents Forced Advertising

I had a Verizon smart cell phone that wouldn't let me reprogran a couple of buttons on the face. I wouldn't have been so bugged by it, but they were in a prominent location & I kept accidentally hitting them. The buttons kicked off some programs that took too long to load and were all about...

    Top 20 Gadgets of 2000 - 2009

I have difficulty separating technology from good marketing. For instance I have been playing mp3s for many years thru pocket PCs. But most people do not know what a PPC is even tho it existed for a few years before an iPod. So is the iPod a stroke of genius for technology or marketing? YES. I...

Proposed UK Internet Law Bordering on Asinine

I recently read a news article about someone in the US who was arrested for having child porn on their computer. The problem is that they were not knowingly downloading porn. Their computer had been hijacked by spam & made their computer part of something like a virtual network ... I think I saw...

    Gigabyte's "333" Motherboards Bring S-ATA 3.0, USB 3.0 & 3x USB Power

I am probably expected by my customers to figure out and/or know this stuff ... but sometimes my brain is frazzled & just like to ask. Can PCIe or even PCI support expansion cards that (in the future since none exist at the moment) will be able to support USB 3 and/or SATA 3 ??? Is PCIe/PCI fast...

    Gigabyte's "333" Motherboards Bring S-ATA 3.0, USB 3.0 & 3x USB Power

Good info about other offerings or soon so. I have to admit that I wonder what to do 6 or 8 USB ports anyway. I once had a Sony digital video camera & the firewire connection was great for streaming video in to the HD. And, that was on a notebook. So now we have firewire, faster than fast USB...

    SATA GH22NS50 Freezes My Computer

You do have to pay in some form for worth while education ... perhaps you can sell it to someone with conditions. The primary condition, if it works (for more than 5 minutes) .. send money. :) Out of curiosity, what OS are you using?

    Gigabyte's "333" Motherboards Bring S-ATA 3.0, USB 3.0 & 3x USB Power

Just the P55 chipset, I wonder when X58 chipset boards will come out. I think this also encourages test methods of "channel" performance. Distinguishing the channel as the means of connection to the peripheral as opposed to the peripheral device's performance. :)

    Think your PC is dirty?

Yes. It is not unusual that the last tech (for radios or computers) that visits a location by default owns all of the problems. Certainly the last install of a something.

    Mouse problems

I can vouch that Logitech wireless mice have pretty decent range. I used to have an office (in my home) that had 2 different computers and each with it's own Logitech mouse. Yes, they really do have separate channels! These computers were several feet apart ... well my smart a$$ 19 y/o daughter...

Microsoft Disconnects 600,000 Xbox Live Gamers

Ahh well, detecting the the detection method is the clearly the next new horizon. Meanwhile there are some pretty cheap XBOX's on craiglist. Not entirely sure what I would do with 10 of them tho ... but thinkin'!!:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
