Help Me! (Need New PSU Maybe)

Strange, because I know I was looking at the same Thermaltake unit. I guess I got the tabs mixed up, or the link never actually opened... Nice price for a 1kW PSU from Silverstone, I gotta say.

    Blu-ray Sells Nine Millionth Movie

Yeah, this one got me to sit up and take notice. 12.6% is for the first time a sizable chunk of the total movie sales, especially if factoring in Blu Ray's higher prices.

Is Gentoo Linux 2008.0 Ever Going to See the Light of Day?

Linux Mint seemed like a decent distro to start with. Or at least it is the only linux distro I heard of that plays mp3s, music, and movies "out of the box". Even Ubuntu requires you to know some linux to get that all up and running.

    Worse performance on an overclock?

The motherboard wouldn't be limiting anything. Sounds like it is possible the GPU isn't getting enough power once you overclock the system... Remember the 2900 XT was one of the most power hungry graphics cards ever created to date. Are you overclocking the GPU any? What's the PSU, and are...

VISTA SP1 more secure than MAC OSX 10.5.2

OS X was never that secure, it's as vulnerable as any other OS. Especially after the user starting installing 3rd party software... I think I'm more surprised the linux box never got hacked, these days it seems almost anything can be hacked if someone has a good enough reason to do so.

Help Me! (Need New PSU Maybe)

That's the one Merlin pointed out... it should work fine. Personally, my vote goes for the PC Power & Cooling 750 Quad Silencer... as long as the extra PSU length isn't going to be a problem for you. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341011

    Not bad speeds

Crazy that Comcast would do that! Upload rate is capped around 364 usually, or at least that is as far as I can ever seem to push when uploading. AT&T has their U-verse thing here... not to sure about their service, and they bundle it with their TV services only else we would of made...

    OCZ or CRUCIAL Ballistix

I dunno... just another one of those things maybe? Honestly even after setting 2.2v as the stock voltage I always got the strong impression that my boards just didn't play well with the Ballistix. I chalked it up as something similar to when ASUS motherboards and some brands (Antec was one)...

ATI cuts prices on the 3850 and 3870

Doesn't seem odd at all, 512mb has been pegged as the industry standard for a few years going now. 640/768 didn't offer any advantages, and considering those parts often have premium RAM / more expensive memory busses it was a great way to trim costs. I'm worried how long it'll take before...

Creative: Doing Little to Please Consumers

Wow, I see the Dailytech article was just scratching the surface of this. Interesting article Rob! Am I wrong, or wasn't the main point of EAX was to have hardware support for sound related work? Am I wrong here? I've never really kept up with any of this, after Vista the point seemed moot...

    Ethernet wiring information needed, Please

Not to sure... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category_6_cable says some types of Cat6 still lack shielding, so really you are going to need to research the actual cable before you buy a large spool of it. Cat6a would appear to be what you wish to use, it is supposed to be the future...

ASUS Blitz Extreme & Formula Motherboards

There is a big difference between the Blitz Formula and the Maximus Formula, the biggest of which is the chipset. There is zero reason to get a Blitz now that the Maximus line is out there, which comes with a much better Crossfire capable X38. Of course ASUS offers the Rampage Formula now...

    OCZ or CRUCIAL Ballistix

It was all over the XS forums back during the 965P days, it was extremely spotty but most D9 chip based users couldn't get their Gigabyte boards to boot without first performing those steps I gave. I wasn't to sure of it myself until I got to experience it first hand... sadly I don't think...

APS... or APC? ;) I was never sure what the beeping meant when the same thing occured with my system and the APC UPS I use. An overload warning is given with a single steady tone... just beeping either means the battery is being used or something else... I didn't take it to mean anything...

ATI cuts prices on the 3850 and 3870

That is what I mean by it being scary! They wouldn't be doing it if it didn't work... Did you hear Jetway just launched 8800GT and 9600GT cards with 2GB of RAM now? Well, when the people at the store suggest things like that, they are probably just pushing the company policy. Best Buy...
