Looking at the diagram you mean? Should just be red/yellow/green LEDs which indicate current voltage levels... that is what they did with the RoG Rampage Formula. Anandtech reported the "Crazy" red only lights up if you set the CPU voltage to over 2.0v :D

Mac OS X is actually pretty decent... although I still wouldn't want it as my main OS. Ars Technica has done some pretty comprehensive articles covering Leopard, I'd suggest trying them. :)

Heat wasn't a problem with both of my WD drives either, had active cooling on them. Did you try a program (Speedfan is great for this) for checking the SMART values yourself?
