Apple's iPad Launches to Positive Reception

As much as I like to make fun of Apple and the Apple-ites, as long as the buyers are happy what can we really say. What kills me is seeing the people who bought them purely for re-selling and the huge mark-up pricing they are trying to sell them for.

NVIDIA Defends GTX 480's Heat & Power Consumption

I still feel the wait was worth it, it just isn't what people were dreaming of. So many people were hoping it would be double the performance of the HD5870 and that was a foolish and unrealistic expectation. My take is this. Nvidia has a completely different market in mind with these cards...

    Heatsink testing methodology

Hey guys, I figured I post this up there so we can continue the discussion about Techgage's heatsink testing methodology. I promise I will not close this thread or moderate posts. Let's keep the discussion civil and we can all learn something (including me). My views on a synthetic bench...

CoolIT ECO A.L.C. Liquid CPU Cooler

If you are happy with your TRU120 then it is not going to be a major leap. One thing the ECO and H50 has over any air cooler is less noise. Again, if you are happy then you probably made the right choice, noise is where these all-in-one water coolers shine. 1. We overclocked to 4.01Ghz and...

    Heatsink suggestions for review

OK guys, after the last thread went south, I am gonna try one more time. Here are the 4 simple rules: 1. ONLY POST HEATINK NAMES/BRANDS YOU WANT TO SEE REVIEWED. 2. ALL OTHER POSTS WILL BE DELETED. 3. IF YOU WANT TO DISCUSS TESTING METHODOLOGY PLEASE START YOUR OWN THREAD. IT WILL NOT BE...

Looking for suggestions for heatsinks to review

Thread closed. This was not opened up as a discussion of our testing methodology, I was looking for insight as to what we will try to get in for testing. While I know I cannot please everyone, the fact that this is turning hostile forces me to close this. Feel free to start a discussion...

Looking for suggestions for heatsinks to review

Believe me, I understand WHY you are asking these questions, but this not only adds greatly to the cost of building a setup since we currently use parts given to us by manufacturers to build test machines and there is no manufacturer for a setup like this, there is just no need to get that...

Looking for suggestions for heatsinks to review

Just using a heat source does not tell you how a heatsink will work inside a case on an actual working PC. We don't believe in that type of testing and it introduces far too many variables. In theory it is not a bad idea, but in practice it just isn't realistic.

ATI Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 Edition Preview

I want to set this up with six 47" or larger plasma TV's. I can't think of any better way to use this tech.

Windows XP will Have Issues with Advanced Format HDD's

Any business still stuck on XP's tit by 2014 deserves what they get although I am sure MS will be less likely to end all help to business. Retail is what will be officially ended first.

Windows XP will Have Issues with Advanced Format HDD's

By next year MS will stop actively working on XP. By 2014 XP will be deader than Win 98. It's not forced upgrading, it is reality. They sold a retail product and area not wanting to deal with it anymore since it is old, outdated and ready for the grave. People can keep clutching their copies...

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 - GF100 Has Landed

I have to say that alot of the other reviews I have read seem focused on something other than a real world gaming type of review for this card. Rob, as usual, you are spot on and while I am obviously going to favor the writing here, it is for a very good reason as well. I really like...

NVIDIA Announces GeForce GTX 470 & GTX 480

As far as I am concerned the best should ALWAYS be saved for last so the world will be ready for the definitive review of these cards. Noone is more thorough than you Rob and as honest as well so I for one am itching to see your final thoughts!

Where are all the Fermi haters now?

I agree that it is not THAT bad, it's just not that GOOD that most people had hoped. As for competing with the HD5970. I only have one word: EYEFINITY. Multi-monitor gaming is coming to a theater near you and is more important than you would think. ATI's solution is so far much more...

NVIDIA Announces GeForce GTX 470 & GTX 480

Can't see how this is going to cause a price war when ATI is in an excellent position to watch sales rise since this card is just not worth the extra dough for most users.

Some sure are, but Noctua uses some great fans and there are other companies that also use very good fans.

Looking for suggestions for heatsinks to review

We don't test by classes, we just put a bunch together and make them go head to head. I have noted what has come our way so far, keep it coming! PS: As for the fans, we like to use them as they come out of the box. If time permits, I wil be open to using one good fan for static testing, but...

Where are all the Fermi haters now?

I understand both points guys, and technically I was oversimplifying it to make a point. My real point is that ATI is giving the current buying public what they want and in droves with many different and seemingly profitable price points. Nvidia has not been successful at selling to the masses...
