When regular users give Windows 8 a go

I know a lot of people who work in IT, and all of them knew about Windows 8 a year ago. But this is where I realize most people in IT are not like that. There are people like this chick who don't care about things that might happen in the future. They're not enthusiasts, I guess. I have tended...

XCOM: Enemy Unknown Review - Tinfoil Hats Recommended

Great review, Jamie. I've come to the conclusion from reading it that the game isn't for me, but I might check it out in the future regardless. I had expected it to be somewhat similar to a Deus Ex where I can explore an open-world, but that's what I get for looking at nothing more than...

AMD Launches First 'Vishera' FX CPUs, Includes 8-core FX-8350 at 4GHz

Aside from the killer 'Never Settle' promotion kicked off this week to promote its Radeon GPUs, it seems that most news surrounding AMD lately bodes a sketchy (and scary) picture for its future. None of this is helped by the fact that its Bulldozer architecture, released last fall, really didn't...

AMD Wants to Give You Free Games with its 'Never Settle' Promotion

Haha, I admit I feel bad for those who might have purchased new cards weeks ago... it'd suck to miss out on three awesome games and perhaps the coupon. Either way, the cards are still good :D No kidding. And it's not like these are sub-par games... far from it.

AMD Wants to Give You Free Games with its 'Never Settle' Promotion

Looking to pick up a new graphics card to help you play the holiday's biggest hits? If so, AMD wants you to go Radeon, and it's willing to offer you a ridiculous deal to make sure you do. Dubbed the "Never Settle" promotion, AMD has been working with its partners to pack in a bunch of extra...

    Wednesday's PS3 4.30 Firmware Update to Remove Folding@home Client

If you were starting to get the idea from Sony that it loves finding features to remove from its PS3, I think you've got it all wrong. Well, if you ignore the fact that with the next firmware update, Life and the Folding@home client will be removed. Past that, I don't think Sony goes out of its...

Rumored: Google to Announce Android 4.2 & Nexus 10 Next Week

Much of the Android world may not even be upgraded to Jelly Bean yet - or in some cases, Ice Cream Sandwich - but it's rumored that Android 4.2 will be making an appearance at a Google-hosted event next Monday. The codename "Key Lime Pie" has been making the rounds, although it's uncertain...

SysAdmin Corner: 7 Network Security F-Ups Small Offices Make

This has proven to be our most popular article in a good while, and there's just ONE comment? Sheesh! I agree, but not everyone has the ability to keep plugged in all the time ;-)

When regular users give Windows 8 a go

When it comes to desktop screenshots, I recommend JPG. Gif should be used only for REAL small images (like avatars and the like). PNGs are fine up to a couple of megabytes. Nice choice of wallpaper though :D

XCOM: Enemy Unknown Review - Tinfoil Hats Recommended

It's been a long time coming. Developed by the fine folks at Firaxis, XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a reimagining of the classic strategy game, but without the genre-bending tactics of other ill-fated titles. Will veterans of the original rejoice? Does it remain fresh for a new audience? Have I really...

GOG has "pay what you want" Interplay games this weekend

I use quotes because if you want the best collection, you'll be suckered into paying a minimum, not "what you want". Nonetheless, you can score a huge collection of classic games for cheap, or 8 for whatever you feel they're worth. http://www.gog.com/interplay

SysAdmin Corner: 7 Network Security F-Ups Small Offices Make

It's easy to overlook that huge corporations are far less dangerous than the small business you deal with each and every day with regards to information theft. Some institutions have treasure troves of information on you that can far exceed the "big fish". If you work in a SMB, you can't afford...

When regular users give Windows 8 a go

It strikes me as a little bizarre for an IT manager to not be forward-thinking at all... to not even consider what's coming up and to investigate just a little bit. It's not like Windows 8 has been much of a secret, but she was just introduced to it in this video!

Logitech G710+ Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

Yup, and it will. It's made worse with LED keyboards because the more you wear away a key, the more the light shines through. It becomes hard to ignore when one key tends to be brighter than the others.

Sleeping Dogs is $25 at Steam

Enough said. This is one of my favorite games of the year so far, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys the open-world genre and won't mind that this game strays from the proven path a little bit. Melee combat takes precedence over firearms, and it's all executed so well...
