Do you have benches with the same system without using the SSD cache function just run from a hard drive and/or SSD? I'd be curious what the FPS was in those situations. Is the storage system only affecting the FPS with the cache function? If so, is it being improved with one or the other, or is...

Has to be the same family. You can combine the 6950, 6970, 6990 in any combination. You can combine any 6870, 6850 in any combination. You can't mix 6800's with 6900's though. You will end up with approx. the performance of the lowest power gpu in the mix though, times the number of gpu's...

Excellent card for the price. The 5850 was a great value when it was introduced, and at these prices, it's still a great value today. Kudos for Sapphire not trying some rebrand scheme.
