    Replacement case parts...

Short of contacting the case manufacturer or fabricating one yourself, no idea. You could just get a replacement USB card reader instead of a whole new case for the time being. Some DVD drives come with replacement drive bezels, but for replacements, again, no idea. Although, you may be able to...

    Are Internet Explorer Users Dumb?

These stats are mostly meaningless... for one, average intelligence dropped 20 points in 5 years for IE6 users, and opera users gained 25 points? There are no numbers for specific test groups, since IE has the highest market share, its results will be more 'average', while opera with its rather...

Amazon, Google Remove In-App Buttons to Comply with Apple Rules

Imagine, for a moment, that with the Windows 8 launch, Microsoft decided to instate a rule that would allow it to take a 30% cut of any third-party software sale. It seems silly, and such a move would no doubt raise prices of software all-around - but this is how things are done in the mobile...

Deus Ex: Human Revolution live action trailer

It's VERY hard not to get excited about this game. I'm not one for trailers usually, but this one was hard to ignore. Only a month to go... *screams like a little girl* <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/aRtdAOYKvmI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>...

OCZ Unveils Indilinx Everest SSD Controller & Platform

OCZ Technology has announced its Indilinx Everest solid-state drive platform. Enthusiasts may recall it was only a few months back that OCZ, in a surprise move, acquired Indilinx as part of OCZ’s strategic transition away from the memory market to SSDs. The Everest controller is the direct...

No Need for 'Snooty' Gamers, Says Carmack

Of all the outspoken game developers out there, John Carmack tends to be one I agree with more often than not. After all, he does have experience, and he's the kind of person that others feed off of to make their own business better, not vice versa. Given his experience, he has some solid...

Intel Unveils Sandy Bridge E Processors

Well, it was only the 3960X... the 3990X might be the 8 core version 6-8 months later.

Intel Unveils Sandy Bridge E Processors

Progress marches on and it's marching in a big way. Clarkdale processors have been replaced by Sandy Bridge and the same fate awaits the Gulftown series thanks to the upcoming release of the Sandy Bridge E that will use the new uber high-end LGA2011 socket expected to launched in the first...

Firefox is Going 64-bit - What Should We Expect?

With a lot of the software we use on a daily basis going 64-bit, isn't it about time that our Web browsers catch up? While it's not of utmost importance from a performance perspective to go 64-bit (it's just a Web browser, after all), there's little reason not to go in that direction -...

    Steam Improvements forthcoming

Play a game and download something at the same time?!? Tis Magic!! And about damn time.... Overall, a good, if not VERY long overdue update. My only concern is the use of HTTP - Certain ISPs like to throttle that during the day (namely my own), nor is it the most efficient protocol. After doing...

Microsoft Employee is Leading Linux Kernel 3.0 Contributor

As strange as that title might look, don't worry, it's much too late in the year for April Fools'. K. Y. Srinivasan, a Microsoft employee, have landed themselves at the top of the Linux 3.0 kernel developer contribution list with a total of 343 changes. The information was first unveiled at...

Parents Deemed Wholly Responsible for Kids Playing Violent Video Games

A recent ruling in California struck down the proposal that would bar violent video games from being purchased or rented by anyone under the age of 18, which reaffirms that idea that the sole persons responsible for the games that children play are the parents. While the aforementioned proposal...

Sinking 773 Hours Into a Nintendo DS Game? It's Been Done

When PSO went pay4, it was only in the US and JP, EU didn't have to pay the hunters license, and we could still connect to US servers. And i know what you mean with that shitty PK, nolling and all sorts going around. A friend was hit with it, screen goes black, messages appear, dude starts...

Sinking 773 Hours Into a Nintendo DS Game? It's Been Done

I was addicted to Phantasy Star Online... i had over 700 hours in one character alone. There have been MMOs too, latest being Rift with my main coming up to 20 days game time... sheesh, it gets bad, and nothing to be terribly proud of. Heh, Marfig, apart from doom, those games were pretty...

Posting my question as Rob suggested I do :)

The CPU is good up to 1.456v, as long as you have decent temps and not pushing 70-80C. So check for dust as Psi says.

Posting my question as Rob suggested I do :)

The RAM will work at 2.1v - if not, it's got issues... or there be a ratio problem with the strap. FSB based OC'ing gets very complicated very quickly when you don't have a CPU multiplier to play with. If you still have problems, you may want to do a complete stock reset and test for stability...

Posting my question as Rob suggested I do :)

Yes If memory serves, it has a ratio strap, based on bus speed. As you increase the FSB, it changes the strap too (internally), which is a north bridge setting I think. You might be able to get away with 4:5. But for the time being, you can keep it in a slow mem speed for compatibility sake as...

Posting my question as Rob suggested I do :)

This is part of the complication (and the headache that mixed memory brings to the equation). Timings are latency, the delay between actions, thus, high numbers equal more time, thus slower. Frequency is the operational clock speed of the RAM, thus higher equal faster, since it can do more in...
