    Half-Life 2: 64-Bit - Reason to get excited?

Hah, strange, but who cares as long as it's working ;-) Have fun :-)

Kid buys PS2 on eBay, receives $90K

A British teenager who bought a Sony PlayStation 2 on eBay for £95 ($194) got more than he bargained for when he opened the package. Instead of a shiny, happy gaming console, there was a whole heap of euros - €65,400 ($90,000) to be precise - stacked neatly inside. A spokesman for eBay said that...

    Samsung 275T 27-inch Wide-Screen

Sorry, I did not test out the S-Video input. I see no reason why it would be different though. I can shoot off an e-mail to Samsung and ask. As far as I recall, when I tested the Playstation 3, it did take up the full screen.

    Show off your desktop!

Cool, clean wallpaper ccdarkness, I like it. Stork, if your PC suddenly dies, I'll assume it's because of lack of breathing room ;-)

    Show off your desktop!

Nice setup Ben. I see you have an Xfce kind of look going on with your KDE. I tried Tahoma and couldn't get into it.. I just like smooth fonts too much. Updated my desktop... mainly icon differences. It's hard to look at the same icons for months.

    Zalman ZM-MFC2 Fan Controller

Good fan controllers can be an excellent addition to any PC, but it's hard for companies to differentiate their own controllers from the others. Zalman tackles that problem with their MFC2, which in addition to controlling your fans, can also tell you how many watts your computer is hogging...

    Half-Life 2: 64-Bit - Reason to get excited?

I would definitely contact customer support first, or check their online help database. It sounds like a common problem... I had it when Lost Coast first came out. With I could be of more help :-(

    Half-Life 2: 64-Bit - Reason to get excited?

I've experienced both problems as well, but luckily had them fixed with a simple restart of the game. One thing I normally try before re-installing the game completely is right-clicking the game, and inside the menu somewhere, clicking "Verify Game Integrity". I've never had that help, but it...

    Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 Quad-Core

Overclocking is always muddy, since it's really luck of the draw sometimes. My Q6600 has hit 3.4GHz stable if I recall correctly. It would go higher, but the core temps bothered me too much, so I kept it at a more modest clock speed. G0 does seem to be performing quite well. These new 1333FSB...

    45nm Xeon specs leaked

DailyTech has received leaked specifications for the upcoming 45nm Xeons, and they look sweet. I think of most interest, to me at least, is the E5450 3.0GHz Quad-Core, with a TDP of just 80W. In speed, it's similar to the QX6850 that we posted a review for today, but with better power efficency...

    Anyone paying attention to E3?

That's true, but that's what I like about E3... we learn more about games we are amped up for. Either way, I see nothing but complaints about this past E3... the crew behind it really know how to kill a good thing

    Half-Life 2: 64-Bit - Reason to get excited?

Not that I know of, but what's the reason? The x64 version should essentially be identical to the 32-bit version now. Is there a specific issue you are running into?

    Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 Quad-Core

Thanks Nate, I have fixed that typo. It was a bad copy/paste. The board I am using right now cannot disable cores, but I will do so when I get another in. The P5K3 died on me before a final round of benchmarks, so I am going to work on getting a replacement, as it's a great testing board...

    Who enjoys Windows Vista?

It's clear by now, I'm sure, that I dislike Vista. In fact, I cannot write enough bad things about it, and I rarely ever use it. However, I am constantly told by many people who do use Vista every day, that they never run into any issues. This is surprising to me, since I can't boot into it...
