    ASUS EAH3870 X2 1GB

CoJ is good, but hard as hell. I didn't get too far in to it due to it becoming too tedious. As for that new ASUS version, I wouldn't bother unless you realize it will cost a lot more than a regular 3870 X2 (probably). There's no need for it unless you actually have four monitors... because...

HD DVD to Die Before Week's End

From a technical standpoint, HD DVD should have won, but they did far too many things wrong. Sony did everything right, so really, they deserve to win. It's one reason I wound up with a Blu-ray player and don't have an HD DVD player.

HD DVD to Die Before Week's End

From our front-page news: It should come as surprise to no one that HD DVD's death is closer than ever, and according to various sources, it could come before the week is over. According to Ars Technica, sources have revealed that the likes of Netflix and Wal-Mart have known about the plans for...

    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz - Wolfdale Arrives

Hi there, Overclocking in general lessens the lifespan of products supposedly, but I've never had a product die from overclocking in the past. I think you will be upgrading long before something dies from overclocking. That said, no I haven't been running it at all since the review, and yes...

    ASUS EAH3870 X2 1GB

Does a multi-GPU setup with one card interest you? You may want to take a look at AMD's latest high-end offering, the HD 3870 X2. We are taking a look at ASUS' version of the card which features a fantastic bundle, including an HDMI adapter and Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts. You can read...

    Loudest machine on the planet?

Just a quick update. 2.80GHz is 100% stable on these CPUs, but I am hoping to go higher. I was testing out 2.94GHz, which also seemed quite stable. I wasn't able to stress-test it due to requiring the other machine to be hooked up, so I hope to jump back on all overclocking and stress-testing...

    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz - Wolfdale Arrives

To be honest, unless the motherboard you are getting goes above 500FSB reliably, I wouldn't bother hooking up the CoolIT. As I mentioned in the review, I felt I could go higher, but the bottleneck was my FSB, which seemed to top out at around 470MHz. So even if you hook up the CoolIT, it might...

    Robert!

I was up, but not on the forums. I just keep logged in all the time to make it look like our forums are not completely dead :-)

    Benchmarking High Scores

I think I might unstick this thread and let it die... and then perhaps work towards making a new thread with similar ideas, but actually keep it up to date. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Or better ideas?

    I am so ghetto...

I should have targeted that one. Like most hardware, it doesn't need to go back, but that's far from the point of receiving it in the first place.

    Loudest machine on the planet?

This is true... but it's a workstation board for one, and dual-socket for another, so it's no surprise that it will be expensive. The $500 is just a guesstimate... it might be less once it's finally released.

    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz - Wolfdale Arrives

Nah, the 9700 should be fine. It's the same cooler I used in the review.

    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz - Wolfdale Arrives

You paid a small premium, but it will be worth it ;-) Going to use the CoolIT on it?

    Loudest machine on the planet?

$500 for a board and $600 for both CPUs... seems like "budget" to me for a smoking 8-Core rig. Sure, it's still a premium, but how else are you going to get 8-Cores into a single rig otherwise? And yeah, it's loud as hell. I kind of put it out of commission last night with a BIOS option...

    Vigilante 8: Arcade announced...

I now have a reason to go and get my Xbox 360 fixed (yes, seriously... it's still dead). I am not sure I could recount the amount of hours I lost to Vigilante 8 on the Playstation... and then Vigilante 2 on the Dreamcast. If anyone was a fan of Twisted Metal and didn't play V8... you missed out...

    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz - Wolfdale Arrives

Where did you find it for $190? That's a fantastic deal...

    Loudest machine on the planet?

So... I finished putting together a Skulltrail machine as I plan to follow-up with a "budget-type" article in the coming week. Right now, the machine isn't exactly budget, but I'm merely configuring it a special way for benchmarking. I am hoping to scale down the machine (with parts I find) to...

    I am so ghetto...

The sad thing? It turns out I didn't even need to do that at all. The 8-Pin is "required" for overclocking... not normal use. Aren't I the dumbass?

    I am so ghetto...

It will be obvious pretty soon that we are working to amp up our graphic card reviews (considering they've been absolutely scarce up to now), and in the past week, I've gone through and benchmarked seven different cards. The time finally came for the last one, ASUS' EAH3870 X2. Oh but how...
