    Project: Deuce

Damn, man. I cannot wait to see that paper removed! Kudos to the nameless friend who helped out there... that seems like a seriously tedious job, but the results look extremely solid.

    Building an Affordable "Skulltrail" System

I included the stock prices for the motherboard since that's what was available at the time. As far as a PSU is concerned, I wouldn't be too quick to trust a $50 PSU to power all those components. Aside from that, I included the "recommended" PSU from Intel, which includes dual +12VEPS which...

    Going Vista 64-Bit...

I agree.. 64-bit should be made the standard version. That way, we can all use applications that are actually compatible :-/

    Fun with the E8400

Good to hear that you are having fun with the overclocks. You definitely shouldn't have to touch the memory, though. I don't recall ever having to use anything other than Auto... there are so many dividers available, it will almost always keep close to the stock speed of DDR2-800.

My first time building a high end gaming PC.

I agree with Nate and Bill wholeheartedly. You should invest in at least a 20" wide-screen display that's capable of 1680x1050... you will never look back. The concepts are basic. On 1280x1024, there are 1,310,720 pixels available. Increasing the resolution increases the sharpness of the image...

    Hilariously bad movie editing...

I watched Live Free or Die Hard three times (incredible for me) and I never noticed such issues. Have any examples?

    Going Vista 64-Bit...

Yes, I understand the thing with the large icons, there was no confusion as to that. Lightroom gives more control over RAW images than Photoshop does... and I like the fact that I can just export and changed I make right into Photoshop for final editing. As for the thumbnails though... they...

    Going Vista 64-Bit...

People who say something is better than Lightroom have no idea what Lightroom is used for. Well, so far so good bro. Usually I don't even have to use the Windows machine for much of anything, but because of this contest I've had to deal with Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Illustrator a fair...

    Hilariously bad movie editing...

I watched the first Die Hard last night with my brother, and noticed a hilarious spot where an edit should have been made, but wasn't. I am sure many people here have seen this movie, but at around the 35m mark, John is in a room of the office building where construction has not completed. A...

My first time building a high end gaming PC.

First off, welcome to the forums! $1,500 is a great price-point. The first thing I need to ask is... can you wait until the end of the month before jumping into a build? The reason is because Intel's new Quad-Core processors should be out by the end of the month and improve on current-gen...

    Going Vista 64-Bit...

And so what's up with Vista allowing incredibly large icons? The first time I chose "Extra Large", I almost laughed up a lung. Large: Extra Large: Sure, it might be for people who can't see well, but damn. Also fun to note that Adobe apparently dislikes Lightroom enough to not give it...

    Going Vista 64-Bit...

Heh, first problem, but it's not Vista's fault. I installed Nero 8 earlier, and because it's out of date (it's a launch copy), I decided to update it using the in-application updater. For whatever reason, during the process it uninstalled itself and left me with nothing... it's not even in the...

    Going Vista 64-Bit...

No, my forum account has not been hacked - it's really me. Up to now, I've been using the same computer for both benchmarking and regular use/gaming (two hard drives), but I decided it would be a lot easier to have separate computers for each... (duh). I decided to use the recently reviewed...

CoolIT PURE Silent Liquid CPU Cooler

We chose to use the 65nm QX6850 because it's hot as hell. No sense using an expensive CPU cooler on a CPU that doesn't require advanced cooling.

    POrtal "modern masterpiece"

Ouch. I am not sure wearing A&F is buying into a fad, per se. I don't go about and throw off A&F puns all over the place or whore them out in the news, or write a fan poem/song about them... That said, perhaps I do buy into fads not knowingly. I guess it's the real BIG ones that annoy me...

Boyd Coddington dies at age 63..

You are not lying there... he was a true asshole at times. I'd like to think deep-down he meant well, because the fact of the matter is, he was running a business that had his name on it. If there was a screwup, it would be on him. I am not saying he was right to act like a dingbat though...

    POrtal "modern masterpiece"

I get turned off by fads... when something comes out and people obsess over it for months. I can't recall how many cube / cake jokes I've seen since it's release. I feel like I've already beat the game.

Boyd Coddington dies at age 63..

We just got word that world-renowned car customizer, Boyd Coddington died this morning around 6 am. Although we don't have any details on what caused Coddington's death, we do know that he was in and out of the hospital over the past month. A spokesperson for the Coddington Corporation confirmed...

Fresh PSP and PS3 Bundles En Route

From our front-page news: As much as Sony is hated, I have to disagree with anyone who says they don't do anything cool in the console market. I admit that I am somewhat of a Playstation 3 and PSP fanboy, even though none of it has to do with the current games that are released for either. I am...
