Zalman Reserator XT Hybrid Liquid Cooling System

Yeah man, that art is killer! I rarely use deviantART, but next time I'm on, I'll add you to my friends list. As for the water-cooling, you are running a high-end rig, so it's really no surprise that the cooling is expensive also. The Zalman itself is expensive, as are the $200 worth of blocks...

Windows Vista SP1 Ships Next Week

I am not so sure it will be available on Windows Update right away, but I could be wrong. I believe that Office 2007's SP1 came out as a public download first, and then became available over Windows Update a month later. I could be wrong though, so I'll prepare to eat my words.

    Memtest86+ LAST VERSION : 2.01

Woo hoo! Is that seriously the default GRUB Ubuntu uses? It doesn't even have a background graphic! Talk about living in the stone age.

    Q9300 is available

I have a feeling the computer would crash before Vista could install. Usually it likes the heatsink installed :P I have fine grit sandpaper here, so I'll haul it out and give it a go. I just have a problem of not being very clean with things, so I'd be more worried making it worse off. I guess...

    Benchmarking High Scores

OK, it's on. With Greg's help, we can keep this thing up to date. I'll create a new thread tomorrow. I think we'll include 3DMark 06 overall score and SiSoftware SANDRA Multi-Media and Arithmetic. Any suggestions? At first, I'll throw in my scores, though a little unfair, but it will help...

    Advice requested.......

You could also use smartctl if it's installed under Linux: smartctl -a /dev/sda That would need root though, or "sudo" preceding the command might work also. The full SMART information would be displayed near the end of the output.

ASUS Xonar and Ultrasone PRO 750's Under Linux

I believe Rory is swamped with a few things, so he's a little slow to get in here. I'm sure he can offer some great recommendations, though. As for Ultrasone, they are a company I've never heard of until Rory did a review, but I am a firm believer in their products. I've done a lot of reading...

Apple Releases AirPort Express Mobile 802.11n Router

I like the Time Capsule idea... it makes perfect sense. If it was available in a router, it would be worthy of the extra price. I have a very intricate backup scheme, so I don't exactly need something like that, but many people are not so determined to write their own backup scripts. As for...

New modder competition site, from MaximumPC

Voted! Thanks for the heads-up on the one-per-day voting scheme... I had no idea. I'll make sure to hit it up each day.

    Not bad speeds

I am not sure how long I could survive on such slow Internet ;-)

Apple Releases AirPort Express Mobile 802.11n Router

From our front-page news: Networking gear doesn't catch my eye too often, but the latest release from Apple is rather cool. The AirPort Express is a small device that plugs directly into a power socket, and doesn't seem much larger than a regular cell phone charger. This is built for mobility...

    Memtest86+ LAST VERSION : 2.01

I should have mentioned, sudo would be required for that since it's a sensitive system folder. sudo cp memtest86+-2.01.bin /boot/memtest/memtest201.bin That would do it. Again, sorry if you know how to do that, but I am not sure by your post, haha.

Star Wars Retrospective Part 1 Released

From our front-page news: One of the most recognizable franchises on the planet is Star Wars, but you knew that. What you might not have known, however, was that since the early 80s, there have been countless games created around the series. Alright, maybe not "countless", but after checking out...

Game Consoles - Great Target for Credit Card Theft?

From our front-page news: Credit card theft is not entirely uncommon, but it might be surprising when thinking about all of the places that your personal numbers are scattered about. There's an on-going thread at Evil Avatar, where one member had his house broken into and had numerous items...

Grand Theft Auto: The Inside Story

From our front-page news: There's little arguing over the fact that the Grand Theft Auto series is one of the best of all time, for more than one reason. GTA III, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas all offered a huge world to explore, resulting in some amazing gameplay experiences. When you can...

    Memtest86+ LAST VERSION : 2.01

Yup, it sure does. I downloaded it and extracted it, and it is indeed a .bin file: memtest86+-2.01.bin You could probably just overwrite the installed version of MemTest with this one, or install it as a second version. Finding out where memtest.bin is first would be a good idea. If you have...

NVIDIA 9800GTX and GX2 Get Greenlight

This review could be an exception, but if it's a preview, why perform EVERY test? That seems like a complete waste of time, when newer drivers could improve on things all around. But, that's the thing to me... most pages are graphs and nothing but. But like I said, many people will disagree...

ASUS Xonar and Ultrasone PRO 750's Under Linux

First and foremost, you need to post here more often :-) It shouldn't matter what distro you are using to get the card to work, but as of right now, manual installation would be required. As far as I am aware, ALSA 1.0.16 is the first official release to support the Xonar, and it just came out...

Intel X48 Motherboards to Show Up This Week

I used to hit 500FSB on older motherboards, like the GA-965P-DS3 just fine, but since then, it seems to be impossible. I think it comes down to bad luck, because I see other reviews of boards I have here that do hit over 500FSB, but I've never been able to hit it stable. I've tired numerous...

My seagate freeagent can´t be found by the computer.

I still can't believe there are so many problems with these drives. interpretasl, if you are brave, you could tear it open manually and recover data that way. The smarter thing might be to call Seagate up and ask them what to do. Maybe if you send them your drive, they'll just put it in a new...
