    Just ordered the 2408WFP...

About $220. *takes a bow* Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all week.

Are TechGage web pages loading slowly?

Is anyone else having this problem? The site loads fine for me... pings are in check as well. I've rebooted some of the server resources, so that might help if there was a problem.

Memory problem with new IP35 board

It sounds like a RAM problem.. I've had two sticks go bad at the same time before, but it's because the motherboard killed them both on initial boot. The first thing to check is make sure EVERYTHING is plugged in properly on the motherboard, and I mean everything. The power connectors, the USB...

    Interplay to make nice comeback?

http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/080408/cltu117.html?.v=53 It's official! Earthworm Jim, MDK, Descent and Dark Alliance are all going to be getting sequels. Now to sit back and wait to see how bad they screw each one of these up. Don't get me wrong... they might be worthy sequels, but if history...

    Building an Affordable "Skulltrail" System

I don't know what to tell you... you are using heatsinks that didn't come with the processors, so there was never any guarantee that they would fit. If they don't fit, they don't fit. Pick up the 9700 LED in all their weighted glory, or contact Intel support and see if there is an adapter...

Games for Windows: The Official Magazine... No Longer a Magazine

From our front-page news: This past November, we posted a news item that posed the question, "Are Gaming Magazines Going to Die?", but sadly, that answer has been known for a while. The fact has only been strengthened today, as news comes from the Games For Windows: The Official Magazine, which...

ASUS Unveils "Essentio" CS5110 Mini-Desktop PC

From our front-page news: Rumors have it that the ASUS Eee PC has been doing well sales-wise, so it's only natural for the company to follow-up with the same idea, but packed into a desktop. Although, while the Eee PC is rather lackluster in power, the Essentio CS5110 actually has some power, so...

Lexar Announces Crucial Mobile DDR3 Modules

From our front-page news: DDR3 first launched on the desktop last May, and since then adoption has been slow. It's no surprise, however, due to high cost of ownership, whereas DDR2 is so inexpensive, it can cost a mere $300 to have 8GB of RAM in your rig. So why pay multiple hundreds for DDR3...

    ASUS EN9800GTX 512MB

The fact that these cards require 2 PCI-E connectors bugs me, because as I said in the review, these are merely overclocked 8800 GTS 512 cards. But on the other hand, the card overclocked well, so that's at least something.

    Building an Affordable "Skulltrail" System

I did not receive stock coolers with these CPUs, and to be honest, I have no idea what the stock coolers even look like. That said, I recommend after-market coolers, such as the Zalman 9700's that I used in the review. I do admit that the D5400XS board has a few issues, and that I was unable...

    HDD Cooler/Noise Eliminator

Welcome to the forums! I am not too much of an authority on this, but I'd only recommend that Logisys "cooler" to dampen the noise. As mentioned in the review, it did virtually nothing for improved cooling, but to be honest, on that drive you have, it might not need to cool. Depends on how hot...

ASUS Xonar and Ultrasone PRO 750's Under Linux

Haha, good luck with that! Luckily, the DX is a great price, so again, it's going to be hard to purchase it and then regret it even a little bit. I think for the price, it's a wise investment.

    What else to upgrade?

I don't think I'd upgrade to an 8800 GT over the HD 3870... there just isn't enough difference to warrant the price. You could always contemplate adding a second HD 3870 to use Crossfire mode, or selling the HD 3870 and upgrading to an 8800 GTS 512. I am not too sure an upgrade is needed though...

    I can agree with that.

    ASUS EN9800GTX 512MB

It's not too often that the fastest single-GPU available is also affordable, but the 9800 GTX is just that. At just over $300, it delivers incredible performance at all resolutions and also turns out to be amazingly overclockable. It's just too bad that the 8800 GTS 512 is not much slower...

Intel Demos 3.2GHz Nehalem at Shanghai IDF

You raise a good point... older CPU coolers couldn't be used. It's kind of unfortunate, but this is quite a leap in CPU architecture, so it's understandable that in order to fit in all the new goodies, the CPU and socket had to increase in size. I just hope that cooling companies will have...

    SD card question

xD cards are horrible, as are most proprietary formats. SD is a great format... offers lots of performance and space, so I don't see a reason why companies would fore go choosing it for their cameras (unless of course, they choose Compact Flash which might be a little more understandable in...

ASUS Xonar and Ultrasone PRO 750's Under Linux

Once again, I am not in a position to be throwing off suggestions or fact, but I believe if you are using subpar speakers with compressed audio, upgrading to a better sound card will do little good. I believe the Logitech Z-5300 are rather powerful (if I recall), so you might. I am somewhat of...

Holy crap! New Xonar DX 5.0 for $89!!

No disrespect. Tech Report is one of the very few tech sites I actually read on a regular basis myself. The DX looks incredible for the price-point. I am a bit worried about that 790i compatibility issue, though. You are right... I am very lucky that both the motherboard and sound card here for...
