    Super Talent Releases Ultra-Fast DDR3-1800 4GB Kit

From our front-page news: When it comes to performance memory, what's the company to first pop into your mind? OCZ? Corsair? Mushkin? Well today, Super Talent can officially say that they offer the best DDR3 kit currently available. At DDR3-1800, it's not the fastest kit out there, but what...

    Going Vista 64-Bit...

Vista 64-bit, no question. There is no sense of purchasing XP right now unless there is some direct need. Vista isn't perfect, but it's here to stay.

Yet Another Downside of DRM: Microsoft to Nuke MSN Music DRM Keys

From our front-page news: Is there such thing as a "good" DRM? As far as I'm concerned, there isn't. As I've mentioned in the past (one hundred times, at least), DRM and other forms of copy protection hurt the legal consumer only. Why would someone purchase music legally and then turn around to...

Voted! Congrats on the new job man!! Does this job mean more time for mods, or just more moolah? ;-)

Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 - The New Budget Superstar?

You are right in that pushing too much voltage into anything over what it's designed to handle will decrease its lifespan, though I've never seen evidence of this first hand. I had an AMD 2.0GHz chip overclocked to 2.7GHz for over two years, and despite the extra voltage, it ran fine. I have...

    4GB DDR2 for $76!

It's even 2GB modules... $150 to give yourself 8GB of RAM. That's spectacular. I think now is the time to buy, before prices go back up. I can't see them getting much cheaper.

    Initial Q9450 overclocking...

I am thinking that 3.6GHz will be the max stable here as well. Using 1.45v wasn't entirely stable after-all (it crashed after two hours), so I bumped it up to 1.475v to see how that goes. Given how this chip has been overclocking so far, I have a feeling that extra bump is all it will take to...

Psystar Begins Shipping Apple "Open Computer"

I couldn't agree more, and this is something I was thinking about also. Apple as it stands appeal (mostly) to those who have money, obviously, because their least expensive offering would get you a full-fledged PC from Dell. Similar to BMW, the Apple crowd is one with some money and don't mind...

    Spare Keyboard

I'd just like a keyboard that kept quiet all the time. I work late, and the rat-a-tat-tatting is annoying. As for that $18 keyboard, it does look solid. I'd still pay more for a name I trust though. The keyboard I have is similar to that one, but is Logitech, and cost around $30 CAN.

    Gas Prices

That's my thinking for most anything. Whenever I complain about a price, I think of how ridiculous it probably is in the UK.

Microsoft Launches Ad-Supported Works 9, But Good Luck Finding It

From our front-page news: Sometimes, Microsoft does something that is worth bragging about, so we hear about it everywhere. Other times, they do something different and don't want anyone to know about. This is one of those times, with the initial test of offering ad-supported software. The...

    Video Editing Software

There's always Windows Movie Maker for rather simplistic movie editing, or VirtualDub paired with DivX, which is my personal favorite: http://www.virtualdub.org/ http://www.free-codecs.com/download/DivX6.htm You would need to install both, and inside VirtualDub under Video > Compression...

ASUS to Re-Release Windows XP Eee PC in June with Intel Atom Processor

From our front-page news: With ASUS' brand-new Eee PC 4G now hitting e-tailers and retailers with Windows XP pre-installed, it's almost hard to resist, right? Well, that might depend on how much you want to give Intel's latest Atom architecture a go, because if rumors prove true, the same Eee PC...

NewEgg Poised to Take on Amazon with NewEgg Mall

From our front-page news: Well well, it looks as though popular e-tailer NewEgg is looking to be much more than a simple computer hardware e-tailer, and who can blame them? They have the crowd, so launching a new service split off from their primary business seems like a good idea. That's where...

    Initial Q9450 overclocking...

Stop slacking Merlin, and get to work! At 3.64GHz (1.45v) at the moment. It's becoming increasingly difficult, but this setting seems stable so far. I'm surprised I haven't had to touch the Northbridge voltage yet, considering I'm at 455MHz.

    RV770 is ATI 4800?

Theo used to be at The Inquirer but was rumored to have been let go after the entire RyderMark debacle. I'm not sure what really happened though, so I can't say anything. $299 for that card would be truly incredible, but unlikely given the specs, unless there is something we are missing. I'm...

Intel Drops Prices on Select 65nm Processors

Cache comparison is a subject I'd like to tackle sometime in the future (I'm just not sure when). It would be nice to run an array of CPUs with identical frequencies, but with different cache sizes... because I seriously have no idea what type of application shows the most benefit. As for the...

Western Digital Unleashes the Fierce VelociRaptor VR150

I can understand shipping out certain products to reviewers prior to an official launch (CPUs, for example), but to ship out an unfinished hard drive strikes me a little odd. I for one will still have no problem sticking to a single 500 GB+ 7200RPM drive for $110. The one I have on this...
