    Palit GeForce GTX 280 1GB

FiringSquad doesn't seem to publicize their testing methodology, so I'll assume they stick to timedemos like most everyone else. So, I could care less what their results say. I'll work on getting in two 4870's or another HD 4850 and then perform similar tests, although with real gameplay, since...

X48 Roundup: ASUS, ECS & Intel

I might be a bit off, but I don't think you can control the fan speed from any BIOS, since they throttle up when the heat gets to be too much. You could use an application that could control fan speeds, although I'm unsure which one out there supports these boards. ASUS includes applications...

    G R I D racing

Man, that wheel is treating you WELL. I am not good at any wheel I've ever touched. Have one for the X360 and Forza, and I actually play far worse.

That DivX convertor tool is useless. You'll need to install the DivX codec and use a program like VirtualDub to export as an AVI. This screenshot should help... http://techgage.com/reviews/intel/qx9770/003.jpg

Intel To Launch Three Nehalem-based CPUs by End of Q408?

The problem is how much the QPI frequency will have to be increased to see a "good" overclock without touching the multiplier. It's going to be a sticky situation if Intel does lock out overclocking, but no one knows that right now except them. It'd be foolish. As I've said before, if people...

    Project: Deuce

Damn, this is sharp, and not in a punny way. It's so flush and well-done, I love it. Are those tubes the same color that will appear in the final mod, or are they temp? I forget, did you ever come up with a final color for the coolant? Looking good man!

    Against all good judgement

I agree with Matt and Kougar, it's a hardware issue without question. I'm the first to jump all over Vista's faults, but I haven't had a single issue like that during all of the times I've installed it. Could be a RAM issue, or an overclocking issue. Could even be the DVD-Rom.

    Palit GeForce GTX 280 1GB

You couldn't be any more right... I know I need one. Should have had one in long ago, but it's taking a while. Still, what I said about 2560x1600 should prove true in all cases. If you want that resolution along with topped-out settings (like AA), then the GTX 280 is still a proper high-end...

    Palit GeForce GTX 280 1GB

With so many options on the market right now, what makes the GTX 280 a good choice for anyone? The fact that it is the highest-performing card out there sure helps, but it's still not for everyone. To join this club, you better hope you have one massive resolution to push. You can read the full...

    Voodoo "Unboxes" the Envy 133

From our front-page news:It was only the other day that the veil was taken off of Voodoo's new Envy 133, and now Rahul Sood, CTO for HP's Gaming Business, has posted numerous "unboxing" pictures on his blog. You may just want to grab a towel to wipe off any potential drool. This thing is...

    NVIDIA Supporting PhysX-on-Radeon Effort

There's an ulterior motive for everything, and in this case, it's that NVIDIA would much rather see their PhysX succeed than Intel's Havok.

Chillout in general doesn't have to be slow, it just has to be relaxing. BT, for example, has a good mixture of songs that are Chillout, a few that are Electronica and a few that are Trance. Some are a mixture of two, like this: BT - Firewater Here's another great one: Air - Cherry Blossom...

Removing one OS from Dual Boot

You can do it very easily with EasyBCD: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/EasyBCD.shtml It's helped me out a few times in the past. If you remove the entry you don't need, it should work fine. If you somehow run into a problem where the machine doesn't boot, booting up like...

From our front-page news: It hasn't even been long since we first saw 1TB drives hit the market, but here Seagate goes and throws 50% more storage into the same amount of space. Seagate claims that this bump is the largest ever, in the over fifty years that hard drives have been around. Of...

    Amarok 2.0 Alpha 1 Released

From our front-page news:It's been a relatively long-time coming, but the first 2.0 alpha release for the popular Linux audio player, Amarok, has now been released. Since 2.x is highly dependant on KDE 4 libraries, that desktop environment is required in order to run it. Those of you, like me...

New Technology Could Make the Internet 100x Faster

From our front-page news: A group of Australian scientists at the University of Sydney have developed a new technology that could hopefully one day speed the Internet up without costing a dime. They use photonic integrated circuit boosts instead of fiber optic cables which can guide data in one...

    Against all good judgement

Jealous Techgage forum posters? Can't think of much! Not sure if I mentioned it, but you should see if there is an updated BIOS available for that board. That should be the first thing you take care of.

Rogers Actually Listens to Customers; Hell Freezes Over

Heh, this seems better, but I'm still not that impressed. It's a deal that's done with just a month and a half after the launch. This will appease some people, but it's still not that great. I guess the question is, with this $30 option, does it last the ENTIRE contract, and how does the end...
