    Palit GeForce GTX 280 1GB

"I do like that you have screenshots for every resolution there, because some settings do differ between resolutions within the same game so it's good to know." That's the line I was referring to. I just meant that the settings seen on the methodology page are exactly what I use, on a per...

Intel To Launch Three Nehalem-based CPUs by End of Q408?

It depends on what version of CPU-Z would be used... I believe when I saw an overclocked Nehalem system, it did not show a 533MHz clock, but rather just the 133MHz FSB (QPI). Intel works very close with the CPU-Z developer, so I assume if you see a version not yet released, it might be accurate.

dBpoweramp's Batch Converter Quick to Convert Big Music Collections

Of course, but the average user isn't going to be ripping 100's of CDs, usually. And even if they are, most of the cddb data is likely going to be accurate. The power user won't care much about certain manual input regardless. I never usually agree with the genre chosen, for example. In two...

Yeah, I believe it's fake. At least I did by the credits at the end. Sure sounded good though.

Intel To Launch Three Nehalem-based CPUs by End of Q408?

Aye... right now we can't do a single thing but wait. Though I was told we will learn a lot more at IDF, I'm not that confident that non-Extreme chips will be there. After all, those are always the first to launch. Just a waiting game here-on out... ... unless of course some Chinese site...

dBpoweramp's Batch Converter Quick to Convert Big Music Collections

After giving the ripper a test, I do have to admit that I find it a lot more straight-forward, and not to mention better-looking, than EAC. I still think EAC is fantastic because it can do a lot and is FREE, but dBpoweramp is still a great alternative. If price wasn't an option, right now I'd...

Psystar's Open Computer Makes Its Way Into Customer's Arms

Hah, wow. I wonder where this is going to go... It sure did take them a while, what's the deal there? Too much focus on the iPhone 3G and not enough on protecting their software, it seems.

    Palit GeForce GTX 280 1GB

Kougar, thanks for all of the input, I appreciate it. I'll take a lot of that advice into consideration with the next GPU review. I'll see about adding the information to each graph, and just make it look good. I'll figure out a way... it'd be a it easier all-around. The last thing I want to do...

dBpoweramp's Batch Converter Quick to Convert Big Music Collections

Hah, to be honest, no, I have never ripped a CD using dBpoweramp, and have never even thought to. When I was first introduced to EAC, I never looked back. It did what I wanted it to, and did it securely. The fact that it was free and never required paid updates helped also... Regardless, I'm...

ASUS P-Series AMD 690G Barebone PC

Rory has taken a look at ASUS' 690G-based barebones rig: What if you could build a sub-$500 HTPC that was slim, fast, and capable, without the headache of picking bargain-barrel parts to accomplish your design goals? What if it had HDMI and 7.1 audio? With the help of their Pundit series, ASUS...

    AMD's HD 4870 X2 Gets Early Testing

From our front-page news: When AMD launched their HD 4000 series last month, good things happened. Both cards (HD 4850, HD 4870) debuted at fantastic prices, and competed severely with NVIDIA's recent offerings. It was the first time in a while we saw such a thing. Well, what could top that...

Albatron Refuses to Give Up on PCI

From our front-page news: When the PCI-Express standard began to overshadow AGP, some people were upset. Sure, AGP was still capable, but PCI-E was pushing things towards the future. Faster bus speeds, lower latencies... perfect for the ultra-powerful GPUs we see today. So with AGP pretty-well...

Microsoft Officially Drops Price of Premium Xbox 360, Adds 60GB Model

From our front-page news: In a case of "we all saw that coming," Microsoft officially announced their plans to drop the price of their Premium ( or "Pro") console to $299 and release a new 60GB version at the old 20GB's price point. What we weren't so sure about was their intention to...

    Palit GeForce GTX 280 1GB

Well, if you read too fast, then a lot of other people do as well, I'm sure. I hate to cloud up the graphs with a bunch of information like that, which is why I made a more robust testing methodology page, and prefaced each performance page with a link to it. Any recommendations on changes...

Intel To Launch Three Nehalem-based CPUs by End of Q408?

I talked to Intel briefly about this earlier today, and while they are still not saying much, we'll find out a lot more at next month's Intel Developer Forum. I am a bit more confident now that no one will lose the ability to really overclock, it's just a matter of how far the chips will be...

    Palit GeForce GTX 280 1GB

As much as I hate to 'uglify' the charts, I might have to start adding that information into the title. But there is a reason I include a link to our testing methodology at the top of every-single results page. I show a screenshot for every game, with the exact settings used at a given...

    Project: Deuce

Well, that's true and what I was thinking. Not sure why that question struck me to be honest. I'm no acrylic pro :-(

    Project: Deuce

Sounds good. Quick question though... does acrylic not bow or bend with moderate heat? Is there a risk that if the GPU got too hot, it could cause some adverse effect to the shroud? Might be a stupid question, but I'm curious.

    Building an Affordable "Skulltrail" System

Nice setup man! Love the LEDs on the coolers... lot more interesting than the rig here. Out of curiosity, do you find the RAM gets -real hot- after a while? Using a thermo diode, I measured the center of the modules here at around 70C. Ridiculous, and one reason I need to hurry up and get a RAM...
