Digsby Takes Bloatware to an Entirely New Level

From our front-page news: In the world of Instant Messengers, the competition is rather small, and for the most part, it's split between the official clients, closed or open-source free clients, or paid clients, such as Trillian. In the free, but non-official space, the choice is highly limited...

Firefox Hits 1 Billion Downloads, Microsoft Disputes the Numbers

From our front-page news: A few weeks ago, we reported on a story that encouraged the death of Internet Explorer 6, and since then, lots has happened. For one, many popular web companies have opted into a program called "IE6 no more", where a snippet of code is implemented into a website that...

The Moments That Cause Us to Quit a Game

From our front-page news: Here's a situation I'm sure all gamers have been in at one point or another. You're gaming it up, getting a ton of enjoyment out of the latest title you've just picked up, immersed in the gameplay. Then, things go awry. You die, and at that point, realize that you...

As Tango mentioned earlier, SP3 fixed some things, so you'll probably want to download that and see if it helps at all. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5B33B5A8-5E76-401F-BE08-1E1555D4F3D4&displaylang=en

    Awesome skate 2 replays

For those not familiar, skate 2 is a skateboarding game for various game consoles that is a wee bit more realistic than Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. As such, it's much more difficult, so when you pull off a wicked trick here, you know you've done good. This video at Shacknews shows 10 replays made by...

Poor Passwords a Larger Threat than Malware?

Don't write them down! Read my tips... it explains how to remember such passwords. Another tip would be to password-protect things like Firefox passwords. By default, ANYONE can see your full password for ANY service you are logged into, quite easily. Password-protecting it solves that problem.

Microsoft Releases "Windows XP Mode" Release Candidate

No doubt it does, since as I mentioned, all the screenshots on their website are taken using Windows XP. Again, I'll test this out in the near-future if possible to make sure.

    ASRock, Asus and Nvidia.

When I said HTPC use, I meant one that could support a TV Tuner card and lots of storage. I'd also like to be able to encode video that I capture from it as well, and that's just not going to happen easily on an Atom-based machine. I've tried to encode video with Atom before for fun, and the...

Recording Industry Planning New Digital Format, "CMX"

Well, that's the thing... if Apple tackles it, it's not going to fail that fast. It's still too bad, because it will be Apple-only, and that's just ridiculous. Of course, it will be interesting to see if other MP3 player makers are able to license it... if so, it might catch on. I don't like...

Canon Pixima MP 510, Windows 7

Nah, that's the stupid thing. Each color is separate, but it will just not at all print until a color has enough ink it, even if it doesn't need the color at all.

If there is a disc in that other drive, just use a butter knife or something like it to get into the slot and pull it out. If it's simply not ejecting at all, then chances are the drive is just dead. ODDs have to be one of the weakest components in a PC. I've had two die on me this year alone.

Disgruntled Enough with Apple to Move Back to the PC?

From our front-page news:As our site focuses more on PC's using Windows or Linux, we haven't put much emphasis on Apple in the past. That will no doubt change at some point in the future though, but for now, we're content with simply talking about what's going on down there in Cupertino, whether...

Poor Passwords a Larger Threat than Malware?

So, how do you go about creating a highly-advanced and secure password? Although there are many auto-generators out there, which essentially create a robust password for you, I don't really recommend them. The reason is simply because the password it provides is not at all going to be easy to...

Poor Passwords a Larger Threat than Malware?

From our front-page news:What's your password? Of course, I don't want you to actually tell me, but just think about it. What's the password to your most data-sensitive web-services, like your e-mail account or bank account? If you were able to repeat your full password, or even picture it...

AMD Releases Speed-Bumped Phenom II 965 BE

From our front-page news: AMD has today launched their fastest-ever processor, the Phenom II 965 Black Edition, clocked at what's currently the highest stock-clocked frequency today: 3.40GHz. As you'd expect, the TDP would have to be high to reach this, and it is, at 140W TDP - bumped from the...

Hi manuel and welcome to the forums! To be honest, it sounds more like an IDE cable issue, though it's hard to say. I just know that IDE cables are prone to issues like this, many of which I've personally experienced back in the day. If you have a brand-new IDE cable lying around somewhere, I'd...

    ASRock, Asus and Nvidia.

Well, that might be true to some extent, but Atom cannot be compared with a desktop chip, and clock-for-clock, its capabilities and raw horsepower doesn't come close to that of a desktop processor of the exact same frequency. Part of this has to do with internal buses and caches, but the general...

Bill and 2Tired, that's intense... I had no idea storms like this were actually "common". Tell me about it! We need a freaking home-version of the Flux Capacitor.

Is Firefox Becoming More Crash-Prone with Each Release?

Sure, but all of the stupid Mafia Wars invites and billion quizes people fill out is even more frustrating :-) Well, there isn't a native platform per se, but I'd assume Windows would be what it's developed on. No surprise, given how you respond to people in threads ;)
