Intel To Launch Three Nehalem-based CPUs by End of Q408?

It is as significant a leap as Conroe was in terms of performance, while maintaining the same power envelope we presently have. If that's not enough performance to get excited about, then I don't know what is. I've said this elsewhere, but perhaps not on Techgage... I firmly believe it's...

    Palit GeForce GTX 280 1GB

An Intel integrated GPU fanboy? Now I've seen everything... :) Nice review, and I am extremely sure you knew this was coming... but you really needed an HD 4870 in there. I know GPUs aren't easy to come by, but unless you use Xfire then it's the next best thing to test against the GTX 280...

Removing one OS from Dual Boot

For future reference, it's best to install each OS onto it's own drive WITHOUT the other drive plugged into the system. As long as Vista thinks it is the only OS around you can change drives, boot to either OS at boot, and generally not have to deal with Vista and its singular OS mentality.

Hm, I'll have to save your post and look up some of those examples you gave. I tend to think there is quite a bit of "energetic" chillout music, but for all I know there's a better label for it. I agree though, I do prefer that as well. And actually I never made a Last.fm account, never...

Removing one OS from Dual Boot

Actually, I ran into this problem myself! I remembered the hard way that if you dual boat Vista using one OS per drive, you can't remove or modify the other drives without Vista failing to boot. So because I dual-boot XP + Vista, if I modify or unplug the XP drive then Vista won't work despite...

    An interesting read...

While I don't tend to give over generalizations much credence anymore, it's simply way to true that driver habits are why most cars have such poor gas mileage, or even worse mileage than they are rated for... you could give them a 40MPG car and they'll likely drive even faster, negating any MPG...

Keeping PC's Cool During Summer Months

Mine's always in use Folding so it's always on, and always overclocked to get the free performance boost so Speedstep/C1E states are disabled. Currently feeding the CPU 1.3v instead of 1.2v, but voltages under full CPU+GPU load is 353 just now.

Well, that's part of my problem. What exactly is the difference between techno and trance? Then it doesn't help much of that same music gets labeled as electronica or just tossed into "dance". Progressive I think I follow, and house is one I at least do understand, although not really prefer. ;)...

    An interesting read...

Nothing is truly green if you start factoring in production "costs" on the environment. I just look at the other end of the timeline, what happens when the product must be replaced, such as if it can be completely resused. Thankfully we can fully recycle hybrid battery packs into new batteries...

Rob, that's pretty cool. DJ Tiesto has some good stuff... :) As far as tastes go, trance fits so many different kinds of music under one label. I don't care for the endless repetitive, if random, noise especially during intros, but that's just one subset of it. Quite a few good ones from DJ...

Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 - The New Budget Superstar?

It should, because you are comparing 65nm to 45nm. Conroe is 65nm. Anything 45nm will use less power at any clockspeed you want to compare it to with a 65nm chip.

ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 Sound Card

Hm, but where? Vista isn't XP where you have to play the Volume Mixer game... there is no wave volume or silly mess like that. WMP's volume controls worked perfectly fine with the onboard audio. Using an updated Vista with the latest Xonar drivers... there simply isn't anything else to blame...

    Palit GeForce 8600GT Super+1GB

As long as you have a power supply that can supply the extra power overclocking needs, system components don't really make much of a difference for GPU overclocking. The stability test in NVIDIA's control panel will not detect errors from an overclock... although it can make the system crash...

I've heard nothing wrong about Kingston HyperX stuff. :)

ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 Sound Card

Well, I finally got one. I wish I had done so sooner... :D Every instrument sounds more full, individual notes that were lost into the background are now discernable. It may be kind of funny to say, but it sounds exactly like I went from listening to a recording to getting bumped to a front...

Surprise: People are pissed off about Rogers iPhone plans

Heh, or you can go to a specialized Doc here, and the the current "trend" amongst Doctors is to present you your treatment choices, and refuse to tell you which they "recommend" because they don't want to be sued if they get it wrong. My mother is having a personal health issue just now, most...

    Waving Good-Bye to Bill Gates

Oh, I know it was bound to happen, I saw that handwriting on the wall long ago. But the timing is certainly helping Microsoft, since MS hasn't been on such a bad looking foundation in a long time. If the attacks on OS X users continue to escalate in numbers enough that it ruins the misperception...

Upgrading from 2GB to 4GB. Questions!

Well, whichever is cheapest. If you're not going to OC them then any kit of 4-4-4-12 800MHz RAM would suffice. Those Corsair chips are some of the cheapest stateside, but maybe not on that store...
