Does your drive have the updated firmware, DarkStarr? If so, you should be hitting the same speeds as the Corsair drives and my Mushkin but chances are, you paid less for it. The big selling point on the Mushkin drive was the 50k IOPS compared to 30k without the new firmware.

There's a lot of built in fluff - voice changing, on-cup volume control (dumb idea), a light that shows when the mic is muted...foolish. Quality wise, I couldn't begin to speculate. I'm thinking that they may be 5.1 with simulated/virtual 7.1 surround sound. I'm curious to know how 2 speakers...

For the most part, 5.1 "surround" headsets are the real deal. The Arctic Cooling set that I reviewed were great for picking up directional sounds so I'd be curious to see what Corsair could pump out.

If you don't care about AHCI, you can just make an image. If you do, there's a registry edit that you can do that will apparently let you set it up.

I like my Caviar Black and still use it for my games. They make great mechanical boot drives if you don't have the bank for a Raptor or a SSD but Rob is right. Go SSD if you can. You'll have more advanced storage tech than he will. :p
