    Vantec SATA/IDE to USB Adapter

Ok, I'm a bit slow at the moment. What're you wanting to start? The old desktop or the laptop? I think you've had a failure on the lappy and it's not going to start at all until you chase it down. Try safe mode and if it won't start in safe mode you might as well count on a trip to the shop.

    Simple escaping Vista feature

That's cool man, I don't live anywhere near Awesomeville. Hell, I don't even live close to Coolsville, Fairville or even Mehcouldbebetterton.

    Simple escaping Vista feature

You aren't following me. Right click in the body of the folder, go to sort by and in the options to sort by it says "More" at the bottom. Left click "More" and then you get the check boxes. You add "Modified" and it's in sort by the next time you right click. I know as I did it myself.

Right click on the folder, cruise to sort by, cruise to "more" and click that and it'll give you a bunch of other options with check boxes and modified is amongst them.

    Vantec SATA/IDE to USB Adapter

Then it's NOT the product I reviewed. IT (the Vantec) has a small 2 prong port on the side of the drive head and a 5V lead that hooks to the PSU that comes with it. Without the 5V adapter hooked to the Vantec it won't read a laptop HDD. Having never used the one you've got I have zero idea if...

Did you hook up the mini power adapter? It won't work without it.

    Auzentech X-Fi Prelude

Well, I've seen lots of other problems that have cropped up for other users prior to my writing the brief update. Things like DDL stopping after opening the console, others with the sound quitting after stopping games and others with similar issues to mine. I don't lay it on Auzen's doorstep as...

    Auzentech X-Fi Prelude

Ok, here are my thoughts on the X-Fi Prelude as it stands today... I haven't been able to test the DTS/DDL outputting capabilities of the new drivers as I still don't have a device to test it with. The whole "register your card to get a DDL key" change has turned me even further off to the card...

Can Ubuntu Catch OS X in Two Years?

Well said Rob. That's the whole reason I haven't embraced the penguin, the whole command line thing is so Windows 3.1 and I'm not that patient. Come on guys, make some executables to make Linux painless for those of us that aren't savvy in command lines and compiling and all the other turn...

    Auzentech X-Fi Prelude

Well, I'm on my way to work, again, and when I had wanted to post my further impressions we were having a server issue. Tomorrow I'll be helping out with getting a friend of mine moved (he hit a semi load of steel doing 80) but I'll try to get something up ASAP.

ASUS Xonar U1 USB Audio Station

I have no earthly idea. Have you contacted ASUS about it? I personally never tried it with Vista and I gave it to a friend of mine to use with his Linux laptop.

Psystar's Open Computer Makes Its Way Into Customer's Arms

I hope some judge is forward thinking enough to throw out EULA's like that on the grounds that it violates fair use. If I want to pony up money for an OS that someone is willing to sell me irregardless of what hardware I have it should be my right to use that software as I see fit as long as...

Psystar's Open Computer Makes Its Way Into Customer's Arms

Here's the deal, can you buy MAC OSX and not have to sign an agreement that you won't put it on anything but Apple approved hardware? If not Apple doesn't have a leg to stand on. If I buy a Windows application made by M$ and manage to make it work in Linux (yes I know this is already being done)...

Are you absolutely certain that your ram isn't having issues? I've seen bad ram do exactly what you're describing.

    NVIDIA Supporting PhysX-on-Radeon Effort

Intersting and good news for all the ATI die hards jumping back on big red's bandwagon now that they're actually competitive again. Kudos to nV for not being anti-competitive.

    Against all good judgement

Sorry I missed this man. Yeah I'm having great luck with my ASUS. It's stable, overclocks like a demon and never gives me a second's trouble. Of course mine's the M2N32-SLI with the 590 chipset, I dunno if that makes the slightest difference though. As to my GPU selection, I'm running a pair of...

    An interesting read...

Nah bro.. I'm "portly", "obese", "fat", "soft around the middle", "fluffy" or what have you and it's not a thyroid problem, I just likes my food. I have lost almost 30 pounds in the past few months though. As to who says "portly" I do because while I know that I'm overweight I don't like...
