Download The Hurt Locker? You Could be Sued

I hope they sue the battledress off of a lot of Iraq War veterans. Then the great circle of irony would be complete.

    Who's a sportsfan around here?

Noam Chomsky aptly calls pro sports "training in irrational jingoism." I'd still rather play than watch, but tonight's Canadiens game made that a tougher decision. I should really get a T.V.

    Promising CPU Benchmark: Geekbench 2

    I only scored a 1020 and my computer cost $1931.27! (On April 25, 2003 :D)

Do We All Want Longer and More Difficult Games?

I'd prefer a game that was developed in the 80's. For all their limitations, it was the heyday of gameplay. Sure, modern games have vastly improved graphics, but most have about as much creativity and originality as Hollywood movies. Longer? More difficult? Tough question. There are any...

Should Journalists Disclose Sponsored Trips to Events?

I'll ramble on some more, because this is an issue that's compelling to me, both inside the computer industry and across other fields. There's the story of the movie reviewer who wrote to many negative reviews and was taken off the list for press junkets: loss of prestige, potentially loss...

Should Journalists Disclose Sponsored Trips to Events?

It's fairly well known that this is standard practice in many industries, not only computer hardware. In a better world it would bear mention if a doctor recommending a drug mentioned the manufacturer paid for a couple's trip to the Bahamas for an "information session," or a movie reviewer...

Any Builders Try Ninite Easy PC Setup?

http://ninite.com/ Somehow, I'm aware of all of these programs and have the ones I want, but if I ever get around to building a new PC this could be a time-saver.

    Photoshop's Content-Aware feature is AMAZING!

Take that GIMP, this one does your homework, LOL!

First new build in 4 years

This is pretty solid, IMO. Stick with the Prolimatech. +1 for never having heard of that case (overspending? esp. if aesthetics aren't a biggie - Newegg.com has a combo with the P183 for $219.30!) or, for that matter, the Indigo Extreme stuff. As always, if you live near a Micro...

Im going to drop some dough on a PC

Pretty solid. Like b1lk1 i much prefer a single card for a new computer, but I think you'd have to look at a 5850 to equal performance, and that's a bit more money. Also, if you live near a Microcenter, save on the CPU and upgrade the PSU and get a better cooler...

Looking for suggestions for heatsinks to review

In the "top air" category, definitely the new Prolimatech. For us more "frugal" types, how about finding one of the new Intel stock ones that are shipping with the i7 980X? There's bound to be deals on those, I'm guessing a good percentage of those buyers will be giving these away. Does it...

Is there such a thing as a GOOD budget racing wheel/pedal/shifter

This one's like mine with force feedback, but also like mine, pretty dated. Can't vouch for the FF or the lap attachment thinger. You should be able to get a much newer model wheel in this price range if you can hunt out a deal.

Is there such a thing as a GOOD budget racing wheel/pedal/shifter

I've noticed there's not a lot in that price range and the cheaper ones are not to be recommended when you imagine the abuse this will take. I wish I had better advice but I haven't needed to keep up much, I'm still using a Logitech WingMan Formula Force GP (USB but no force feedback.) I've had...

    PSU calculator

Re: ASUS Page 2-39 of the manual for the ASUS P7P55D Premium manual states: "If you want to use two or more high-end PCI-E x16 cards, use a PSU with 1000W power or above to ensure system stability." I thought that was kinda funny when I read it.
