Are Paid Online Subscriptions Bound to Take Off?

It works for the WSJ given they have some of the best articles on daily subjects that I've seen. They usually cover the subject from every angle and include both sides of the story, in addition to actual in-depth analysis from plenty of research behind the actual quotes/interviews/words. It's...

BioShock 2 Will Use SecuROM DRM, Has 5-Time Activation Limit

According to the music industry, when this occurs with your music you are supposed to re-buy all of your DRM'd music that you lost access to. Gotta say one thing about those big label music execs, at least they are brutally honest about being greedy bastards. ;)

    Windows crashing

Finlay, you might try going to your device manager and uninstalling all the entries under your USB menu. Make sure all the USB devices are unplugged, and lastly reboot. Give the OS a few minutes to reinstall the USB drivers before you try plugging anything in to test it.

    Please help cpu warning cmos

Actually, they do. This is typically seen on older (and the cheapest current) PSUs. PSU's without active-PFC and those PSU's that are not 80 Plus rated typically will pull 15-20W to keep the PSU circuits charged and ready to power back on. If nothing else, it's a good reason to get a good...

    Do you buy ...

I'll let ya in on a little secret then! Pricing engines aren't really useful for showing "deals", they often show the incorrect price, price for the refurb, and don't always factor in rebates or combo deal promotions. For finding deals, I suggest you monitor one or both of these sites. :)...

Wooden PC Case in the making - Got Questions.

Very nice find! If that fits it could look really well if the wood stain/color matches. Your project is looking really nice and has given me an itch to look into trying my own hand at building a case... once things settle down a bit I just may give it a try. I wish you luck with the...

Windows 7 just became Vista part 2....

That's the catch, for most people it has worked. I've even tested this feature on the RC build several times and helped get it set up for users interested in trying it. What is interesting is the first link in your search seems to have the answer. Just about all the fixes involve changing...

    Kingston SSDNow V Series 40GB

Howdy, thanks for the critique! Please keep in mind that all solid-state drives in this review were subjected to the exact same dirtying methodology. The Intel drive was Secure Erased prior to the start of testing. The OS was manually installed (not cloned as this preserves the clean state...

The Games that Kill Development Studios

That hasn't seemed to hurt consoles games very much, that's for sure. ;) I think it's safe to say overall game sales declined due to the economic events, but overall they haven't really gone anywhere. If anything casual games sales seem to still be going up.

What Q1 games are you looking forward to?

Well, that new Star Trek Online MMO seems to be "okay" after talking with some players, but it's been kind of shady. Highly limited beta... no mention of how long the $60 subscription lasts, and so far the only mention of pricing has been them offering a $300 "lifetime" subscription for sale to...

    Kingston SSDNow V Series 40GB

The drive being discontinued is news to me, it's hardly been out on the market! I wonder if this was by arrangement with Intel given Intel has released a slightly different version of this 40GB drive, or if Kingston simply doesn't want to compete directly against it. I'll update the article with...

    No Half-Life 2: Episode Three in 2010?

Honestly who's surprised... it took Valve six or seven years to develop Half Life 2 after all. And 2 years to develop Episode One, which was a whopping 4 hours of gameplay. I think they realized Episodic content as they envisioned failed to work and has harmed HL2 more than helped it. I am...

Taking a Deep Look at NVIDIA's Fermi Architecture

The perk of having the game devs work closerly with you and putting your brand's logo on their game comes with the latest (and sometimes future unreleased hardware) to develop said game on and make sure it works and performs at reasonable levels. Valve has frequently used unreleased future...

Windows 7 Gains Ground on Steam's Hardware Survey

I find it interesting that 18% of users run a single-core.... 24% use a quad-core. Another era of PC computing is just about history... Also keep in mind Windows XP had a 50-55% market share in September, it has continued to fall quickly. You mention the combined Windows 7 total is 23%, but...

That cat that rode the bus

That's very sad to read. On the other hand I find it incredibly curious given that the majority of felines dislike riding in motor vehicles. That's incredible and sounds like that feline had a rather nice life. :)

    Do you buy ...

You and me both. Even after 8-9% in sales tax it's still a sweet bargain. Specials like this is why some people love Fry's so much, because they do something like it for all the major holidays.

Windows 7 ... what do you like, or not & why ... or do you care?

I"m not talking about classic, I'd find that even worse! I'm talking about this: Unfortunately I still don't like the built-in ZIP handling, so the first thing I do is install WinRAR. I know Rob prefers 7-zip which is an equally good, free alternative. You can tell Windows...
