Is NVIDIA's GF100 Broken and Unfixable?

Why not? Gamers are a crazy bunch, and the GPU is the most important part of a gaming computer, even more so than the processor.

Has OCZ Sold PC Power & Cooling?

I'll bite on this one. The founder for PC Power & Cooling agreed to the initial purchase by OCZ because he got to run his company the same way he always had, for the most part. Doug Dodson put his principles above profit, and that's how he's always run his company. I'm not privy to the...

What exactly is wrong with the March?

Enjoy it Altrus! Tons of free time + any choice of several anticipated games... I expect you to have beaten most of them by April. ;) Skip SC2... the game uses the good name and tosses onto a game that isn't even half of what Forged Alliance was. Half the maps, less than half the units, only...

It's Official: Valve's Steam and Source is Coming to the Mac

Don't forget that Portal 2 is official as well, and will be a standalone game for this holiday season. :) http://store.steampowered.com/news/3559/

    Don't Purchase Assassin's Creed 2

Given the reception (and probably first of many attacks on the DRM servers) I don't think there IS a next step left for Ubisoft to take. The only option at this point will be to jump ship to consoles only and skip the entire ordeal and bad publicity.

More Proof that Steam is Coming to Mac OS X

And what would the EU do, fine MS again for it because they offered an all around better coding platform for 3D games? OpenGL was around first and is used for professional 3D applications, but it was never built for nor developed with gaming in mind. DirectX was built specifically for gaming...

Can You Tell the Difference Between 720p and 1080p?

Better question might be if you know of any TV service that offers 1080P. :D Seriously, no cable or satellite provider currently offers 1080P broadcasting, and one of the few companies that does is Verizon through their fiber channel network. Even Verizon does not offer 1080P through their...

Are TSMC's Yield Issues Going to Cause GPU Costs to Rise?

That's a silly question! Yield directly affects chip costs, if the yields were great they could sell many more of them at lower prices and not only afford to do so, but come out with higher profits too. I think the better question is if TSMC's perpetual yield issues are enough to make such...

Music Sales Plummeted During Previous Decade

Just because it is sold online doesn't mean the artists gets most of the money. The site gets a cut, the label gets their cut, and the artist is still at the end of the food chain. I don't remember where I read it, but I believe they get less than a third of the $1 per track. Many are actually...

    Awesome video

So incredible, it really does look miniature, like a still motion set. Really liked many of the shots and the music, nice touch with people doing yoga under the freeway. ;) With each new prosumer camera offering 30FPS 1080P movie capability as standard now, there should be more interesting...

NVIDIA's Optimus Looks to Gain Steam, Support from Apple

Are you sure that it is? I thought GPU acceleration was only available under the beta flash plugin, which few have and was easy to break depending on quite a few factors. I'm not sure about the 2nd beta, but the original only worked on select types of flash videos and NVIDIA drivers.

Music Sales Plummeted During Previous Decade

Exactly. The current #10 spot on Billboard sold only ~33,000 albums, it's ridiculous. But it's all superfluous, because the vast majority of music sold is now digital. The music industry just wants people to forget digital sales even exist because they made much more off of album sales than...

ASUS' Xonar STX Gains Even More Functionality Under Linux

The Xonar drivers override Window's settings, so no. Once I used the Windows driver for the onboard mic I then receive the built-in mic-boost and other options Windows offers, but the Xonar doesn't. Thankfully Windows 7 also appears to work fine with multiple sound drivers / sound cards...

Kingston Releases 256GB DataTraveler 310 Flash Drive

...And yet you wouldn't know it by how loudly people complain about Vista's 20-25GB installation size...

Is NVIDIA's GF100 Broken and Unfixable?

Hm, I think my post got deleted, but I'll make a new one. :) NVIDIA joined the SOI industry consortium awhile ago... this allows them to influence SOI industry choices and familiarize themselves with SOI fabrication. This is important to know, because GlobalFoundaries of course uses SOI in...

Just Cause 2 won't support XP

Very interesting to hear! But perhaps not so surprising... not only does this mean they can completely skip development/troubleshooting DX9 systems and DX9 GPUs (which work completely differently anyway), but it even simplifies the minimum hardware issue. Steam's January survey shows XP lost...

Adobe Patches Security Hole in Product that Shouldn't Exist

That download manager is annoying, I had to remove it from my system after I downloaded some program from them recently. Tharic is spot on, I also use Foxitreader. The program even integrates into Opera/Firefox rather well if you want it to.

Alan Wake will no longer be coming to the PC

I'm sure it will happen, but I honestly wonder if more people pirate the game and emulate it on the PC, or if the majority of pirates simply use a modded console. Microsoft banned a few million Xbox 360 user accounts because of modded consoles a few months back, and there are plenty of sites...

    Is this motherboard shot?

Damn, wow. I'm going to have to remember that one... people collect power strips and NEVER toss them, and so many are made as cheaply as possible... it is a bit scary that a basic power stripe would even make ANY audible noise, I would have trashed it and not dared plug anything into it lest it...

    Valve's Steam Receives UI Overhaul

Everybody that has tried this has had SOME type of problem, it's really buggy. Some people are having their games redownload, others completely lose the in-game overlay (happened to me twice already), and for some the browser fails to work. When you view games you recently played, it will say...
