You may be on the edge, best thing to do is to go a little higher with w Good PSU ( OCZ, Silverstone, and I think there are some good Thermaltake PSU's, but 550 seems a little low. I'd get responces from others on this Merlin

First off, a Silverstone OP 750 would run everthing and Second, why would you run SLI with a 24 " monitor. A HD4870 x2 generates so much heat you would need to water cool, buddy of mine has ONE in his system and gets glitches on certain games with everything set to High video settings on a 24...

I just finally took the drive out of the freeagent and install into my computer as another drive. I have had 3 externals, Maxtor One Touch, FreeAgent and WD MyBook, I was never satisfied with any of them.....Just no more externals for me. Merlin

From CoolIt, when I recieved my NV200 GPU cooler, I got a surprise of the USB drink cooler. I took it apart ( of course ) and played with it, One side is ultra cool and the other side is very hot ( the heat has to go somewhere ) So, I don't think a direct mount of a peltier would work to a CPU...

Sounds to be a resource issue, If you are not using, something like firewire, then disable that, reboot and try it again. Some resources running in the background conflict or hog shared componants. Merlin
