Memory problem with new IP35 board

Well, I figured out the cause of my problems. I did a complete reassembly, and as I was taking off the heatsink, I noticed I had the fan plugged in a port for a case fan, not the CPU fan. I didn't catch it looking over a second time. Needless to say, this time I was able to boot up...

An older picture, but it's the only thing I have on hand. Please don't mind the de-saturation, unless you want a totally yellow photo.

Memory problem with new IP35 board

The board killing the RAM was something I was afraid of. Everything's plugged in properly, and with one stick installed, the BIOS shows everything within safe temperatures (40C for the processor, off the top of my head).

Memory problem with new IP35 board

I just replaced my old ASUS P5N-E with an abit IP35 Dark Raider, and I'm having problems getting the thing working. My specs are in my sig, the processor hasn't been overclocked yet. I'm using a pair of 2GB Kingston HyperX PC2-8000 sticks, Tuniq Tower and an Antec EarthWatts 500w PSU. When I...

    FS: Refurbished/New Dell 2007WFP

For Sale: Dell 2007WFP - $320 I'm selling a refurbished 2007WFP I received from Dell a few days ago (the only way you would know it was "refurbished" is if you saw the box). It was sent to replace my defective monitor. The monitor is a revision A04 with an S-IPS panel (the serial number...

How do I hook up my Logitech X-540 speaker system to either my dvd player or t.v?

The speakers should have come with a 1/8" to RCA splitter. You should be able to use this to connect audio from your TV to the speakers, but I can't think of a way to get sound from more than two channels off the top of my head.

Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote

They used to, but I'm not sure if it can still be accessed now. It should work one way or another though. The remote is capable of "learning". There is another IR receiver in the back of the remote. When signals are not recognized, the software will walk you through a process of teaching the...

    Your Top 2007 Music?

I don't think this was one of the "best" years in music, but there were some great albums. I don't own all of these albums (but I have listened to them), so I would have to say my top ten would be: Radiohead - In Rainbows Bloc Party - A Weekend in the City Little Brother - Getback Nine...

    Planar 24-inch PX2411W Wide-Screen

If you can find one of those in good condition and a cheap price, go for it (if you're fine with not having a warranty). I have a GDM-F520 myself, and I loved the picture quality. The only reason why I don't use it now is because of the lack of shielding on my speakers. The minimum I would...

    Cooler Master CM 690

While that's true, having the ports somewhere on the front of the case is definitely more traditional. Even if they were at the front, you would still be able to use the ports, which may not be the case when they're at the top if someone's putting the case under their desk. It's a small thing...

Thirteen OS X Widgets You Should Be Using

Fair enough. I think saying "no developer wants to put up with Vista" isn't really spewing fact. Some devs are fine developing for it. Being part of a vocal minority doesn't mean everyone shares your opinion. I may be a bit of a hypocrite though. I couldn't get MinG working. :o

    Ever feel dirty?

I hate preaching to people who are extremely computer illiterate. I'm fine with teaching them if they want to learn, but trying to give them a dumbed-down explanation or solution for a problem that they are going to ignore or forget in the long run doesn't help them, and just annoys me. It...

I haven't had any "dirty" experiences, per say, but don't you ever bring up my name and computers around family or friends. I think I need this shirt.

    Elgato Turbo.264

I know iLounge made a comment about the picture being interlaced when they used the AppleTV profile. It bothered them so much that they decided not to give it a rating and not to recommend it. The problems I had with the output quality were noticeable, and annoying, but it must depend on the...

    Elgato Turbo.264

I really can't see 800x600 being a hard limit for the encoder. Even if performance wouldn't be as impressive, as long as it could get the job done it would still put most of the strain off the processor. I may be wrong, but in theory, the USB bus should be able to send 57.22MBps at most...
