When 'Free-to-Play' Becomes a Money Game

I'm addicted to Team Fortress 2 right now. The only negative part of free 2 play is that you have a limited backpack for weapons but that isn't a big deal.

UK Man Jailed for 'Inciting Racial Hatred' on Twitter

Westboro Baptist Church is a good example. They are not allowed in Canada as what they're saying is considered hate speech here. I'm not sure whether this is a good or bad thing. There are other examples. Ann Coulter, if you're familiar with her, was harassed by authorities and warned not to say...

James Cameron Completes Dive to Bottom of Mariana Trench

It's amazing we really don't know everything about even our own planet yet. This is very cool.

There's a company that will provide fake references for you: http://www.cnn.com/2010/LIVING/worklife/02/15/cb.fake.job.reference.help/index.html. Scams are a dime a billion.

A Quick Look at Windows 8 Consumer Preview

I don't see how the Linux DEs were much better. Until Gnome 3, they were desktop, startbar, icons, etc. Gnome3 sort of crashed and burned, and KDE still uses the desktop paradigm.

    Linus blasts openSUSE

Maybe Linus should just get her to switch to Windows, where this sort of thing just works.

A Quick Look at Windows 8 Consumer Preview

This article has piqued my interest. Not sure about Metro. But does it matter? Even if it's an utter failure and nobody adopted it, they'd just fix it and rebrand it as Windows 9. They're big enough they can afford complete and utter failure.

Tobacco fine: $11,900; Cocaine fine: $482.50

The whole drug war is a failure. The only winners are the big drug cartels. It's like alcohol prohibition, only worse. Drugs are bad news, but the focus should be on education, not incarcerating users that aren't a threat to anyone.

    Father shoots daughter's laptop

They could end up being totally estranged. In a few years, she'll move out and never talk to him again. It happens most often with daughters, from what I've seen. Also, isn't he being a little immature himself?

    Father shoots daughter's laptop

There seems to be some debate as to whether the daughter or the father is the bigger douchebag in this instance. I'm undecided ....

    Father shoots daughter's laptop

My mom and sister were sort of archenemies until my sister moved out. She probably belittled her on FB all the time.

I've been wanting to develop either an RTS or RPG as well. RTS's are probably more complicated due to there being so many entities on-screen. I've found this to be helpful:http://www.cjgraphic.com/?page=rts-book. You can download the full source code for the RTS developed in the book. The...

Apple's iPad 3 Rumored to Launch in March

I strongly doubt Apple actually invented a lot of these things they have patents on. Word completion? That's been around for ages. Remember they tried to claim the rights to the GUI (desktop, windows, menus, etc), when both Microsoft and Apple "stole" the idea from the Xerox Alto.

    Random Craigslist Finds

In my experience, knowledge and "expertise" has little to nothing to do with acquiring a job anyhow. You could have an expert and a doofus who barely knows what an OS is but happens to be friends with management apply for the same job, and the hiring manager will choose the doofus every time. It...
