    ASUS G51Vx 15" Gaming Notebook

That's an absolute incredible deal at $999! The processor, as you've mentioned, is underpowered but the overall deal is great, especially considering the GPU. What did you think of the build quality?

Can Phoenix's HyperSpace Become the Ultimate Instant-On OS?

Wasn't at some point Google planning something similar? An operating system that allow instant access to an internet browser when you turned the system on. Well anyway, this sounds very very exciting because you could very well check your email while you wait for Windows to start up. Do I have...

    Ubuntu: Something for Everyone

This is why Ubuntu rules: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTRsLW0eet0 /end argument. Brett, you're absolutely right. I have Ubuntu installed on my computer and only vaguely understand its relationship to Linux. All in all, I don't care because I love how it works. Though I still stick with...

Geek? How would you want to be buried?

I think I'd rather be buried in a grave with headstone and all. Second choice would be inside a Commodore64, but I'd rather not be put up for auction on ebay.

Dell Intros "Wireless Charging" Latitude Z Notebook

That's the biggest advantage I take from this new "wireless" technology. It would save customers and Dell hundreds of dollars in replacement powercords. Though why they didn't adopt Apple's magnetic contact charging is beyond me.

ATI's Eyefinity Technology Put to Proper Test

I was sold on the Eyefinity the moment they announced it. It will quickly become a part of any enthusiast gamer's setup, providing levels of immersiveness not feasible before. Not to mention the obvious gameplay advantages of having such a setup. My only concern is that the video card itself...

How to Get Ripped-Off By Dell and Mesh

A major problem is that many of these customer service centers cater to many companies. So it's not uncommon for a rep to be working for Dell in the mornings and AT&T in the evenings. They reps have to follow a strict script and are graded in how quickly they can end a phone call. I don't...

Is the Archos 5 the Killer Media Tablet?

They should have. Why display a poor version of your product (if it is indeed a poor version). In the tech world, bad publicity is...well, bad. They would have been better served by not showing anything at all at IDF.

WinX DVD Ripper - Free Ripper that Works

I've had a lot of problems with Free DVD Ripper in the past so I can't wholeheartedly recommend it. But I will check out Handbrake next time I need to rip a DVD. Thanks for the suggestions! :)

The Moments That Cause Us to Quit a Game

I think it's all about immersiveness. Can a game make you forget that you're playing a game? Every great movie and every great book has this moment: the moment when you get transported to another world. Dying and having to repeat an hour of gameplay that you thoroughly enjoyed will not be a...

Seagate Unveils BlackArmor 440 - Great Design, Huge Storage

After some sore disappointments, I stay away from games based on movies/franchises. Might have to check this one out.

Is RAID Almost a Thing of the Past?

So this would only affect people looking for better fault tolerance while not sacrifice performance. RAID 1+0 config is used at the lab at work. We have so much data we work with on a regular basis that if a faster solution was on the table, we'd most likely switch to it.

Move Over RRoD, Welcome the Yellow Light of Death

"commercially sensitive" translates into: our product has a design flaw and we don't want people to know about it. Is the YLoD as prevalent as the RRoD is? I wouldn't think so, though Sony can county themselves lucky that this hasn't received as much press as Xbox's failure. I've always...

You must come to my gf's tea party this Friday. She serves tea, biscuits and milk to a whole bunch of people I don't like. :) ...and I wish I was joking.

Assassin's Creed II delayed on PC

You're right, they did a poor job with the PC version last time. But there was a reason behind it as well (or so I've heard). The first Assassin's Creed for the PC was leaked 6 weeks before official release. The leaked version intentionally had a bug that made the game crash, a bug they took...

First Good Review of ATI Radeon HD 5870

According to ATI, the 5850 will have about 80% of the performance of the 5870. This should easily beat the performance of the 4870.
