OCZ Technology has made a new name for itself with solid-state drives, and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down any time soon. The company has just announced that it has signed an agreement to pick up a design team and select IP assets from the UK division of PLX Technology, a SoC design company.

Woah now...this is really going to make other companies have to step it up to keep pace. I liked OCZ's memory line up but dropping it for this was brilliant in hindsight given the products they have pumped out.

Where are you going with this, Petersen?

It's nothing huge... OCZ already owns Indilinx, has its own well-established products that utilize related technology... all they are doing is binging more of the physical / firmware development in-house and collecting some extra IP rights for new tricks.

It's a logical step and will drop costs and speed development times for their existing products, since they now have some pretty well experienced SoC and PCIe bridging engineering teams and yet more IPs to play with.
