Comcast in 2008 will offer Internet speeds as fast as 160 megabits per second, up from its current top of 16 mbps. "We're going to download a two hour-plus movie in high-definition in three minutes and 56 seconds," he says. The price will depend on demand.

That is mind-blowing. I cannot wait until something like that is common-place.

Comcast and Time Warner have both been really going after the fiber to the node thing.

However TWC's "trick" is to only offer 20Mbps for "small" file downloads... download anything beyond a certain file size (somewhere around or below 100MB), where you actually WANT that kind of speed and where it matters the most... you only get half that advertised speed. They only give it for "burst" transmissions, although interestingly I can tell sites load faster and more smoothly now.

With the technology advancing and video conferencing it's part of the future.
Also, Internet TV opens a whole market of possibilities.

Instead of flying out to Seatle for a conference, you could save the time and aircraft fuel and attend by way of Live Internet Video ( LIV )
or even Home Interent Video ( HIV ) although they may call this something else.
