Finding a gaming headset that offered 5.1 audio used to be a total rarity, but today, they're commonplace. While some 5.1 headsets out there don't do the best of jobs with delivering the aural experience we'd hope for, some do, if the driver alignment and software is spot-on. Read on to see which camp the Sonar 5.1 Championship sits in.

Read Ryan's in-depth look at Cyber Snipa's Sonar 5.1 Championship gaming headset, and then discuss it here!

Rebadged Zalmans

Ummm excuse me if I may, but these look considerably like the Zalmans released a few years ago. The earpieces give it away.... could they be just rebadged Zalmans??

It wouldn't be surprising, since these look like re-badged Arctic Sound P531s. It's as though there's some mysterious company that produces these en masse and then sells them to any company that wants them, to customize and re-badge as their own.

As seen in the review, though, despite the near-identical design at the core, not all of these headsets are made alike. In fact, while Ryan awarded the Arctic set an Editor's Choice, the Cyber Snipa's had enough of a bass problem to have him recommend something else.

If you happen to be talking about these...

...I don't think so but I can see where the comparison is made.

What's odd is that the Cyber Snipa set obviously was made by the same OEM as the P531's but were bigger. If only I could Frankenstein the two.
