AMD two months ago released its Radeon HD 6800 graphics cards, and in doing so gave gamers some interesting choices. Preempting that launch, NVIDIA dropped the prices on a couple of its own models, so all in all, it was a great time to purchase a card. Last month, NVIDIA followed-up with its GTX 580, which succeeded the GTX 480 as being the fastest single-GPU model on the planet. And of course, we saw the launch of the GTX 570 last week.

Maybe it should be Nvidia - the way it's meant to be paid.

$500 for ~8%? No spanks. That's a lot of dollars per 3DMark points.

ahhh it's pretty. haha. NVIDIA really failed on the pricing of the GTX 580. Maybe they were anticipating the 6970's release and thought AMD would make it ultra expensive like the 5970 was. Guess they were wrong! :p

If that's the case apparently Nvidia didn't get the memo about AMD changing the number scheme. :D

So now we are left with what is AMD going to do for their ultra high end encore? If the 5700's are now the 6800's and the 6800's are now the 6900's are we going to see a 7000 or a 6900+ to really blow the doors off things?
