Wedding Gown Made of 12,500 Condoms

Actually, I wondered how it would sound to walk around in all that squeaking latex. I'm sorry, the sexual revolution is just not as glamorous as it used to be.

Imaging Hosting Services (A Real Question This Time!)

Another major concern of mine is the number of sneaky advertisements that pop up. It turns out that ImageShack was the site I was thinking of when I remarked about the PartyPoker.com popups. The new version of Firefox seems to be a bit more effective against that particular ad, but I've seen...

Imaging Hosting Services (A Real Question This Time!)

Trying it out... Pictured is a three-piece speaker system I built for my sister's birthday. Typically, the speakers in my avatar occupy those positions. The bass module uses a single dual voice coil (DVC) 4" woofer in a double-ended transmission line similar to what Bose uses in their...

Imaging Hosting Services (A Real Question This Time!)

Hi, all. I'm wondering, what's a good photo hosting web site that I can use? I know there's the good ol' Bucket, but I hate getting PartyPoker.com pop-up windows whenever I close other windows. (Internet ad companies are downright evil.) Addendum -- brain fart when typing in the thread title...

    Who uses clear type?

I use it. I personally like the antialiased look.

AMD buys ATi for $5.5 Billion

I think that the biggest problem with the home theater PC is that in order to really control the system, you need to get behind a keyboard and have a mouse in your hand. I agree that more transparent control systems are going to be required. In addition, more manufacturers of powered loudspeaker...

    Cyber Accoustics, the brand name.

I didn't mean to say, of course, that there isn't a market for the type of product that Cyber Acoustics sells, but they really can't compete in terms of sound quality with a really good system by a reputable manufacturer, like Logitech, Cambridge Soundworks, Klipsch, or Altec Lansing. As I...

    Logitech X-540 5.1 Speakers

Dooh, I just made myself look like a total idiot. The X-540 is a 5-channel system, while the Altec FX4021 is only a 2-channel system. Oh well, I suppose in this price range it's better to go 2.1 and get the better speakers than to try and pull off 5.1 sound.

    Sabayon Linux 3.2

I wonder if a derivative of Sabayon could be a viable consumer OS? The visual effects are plentiful enough to generate intrigue, and the Menu is easy and simple. With newer subscription-based games that provide a different stream of revenue for game developers, perhaps we might see more MMORPG...

    Selecting a Power Supply

The Corsair power supplies are Seasonic-designed, and very quiet as reviewed by SilentPCReview. If you do not care about Bling (as I do not), the HX supplies from Corsair are probably the best options.

    Altec Lansing FX4021

You Caught Me! You Caught The "Tater!" As an aside, the Taterworks name originated before I had learned of Ron "Tater Salad" White. It's my opinion that in this price range, these speakers are probably about the best you can do, and so they deserve the TechGage GeeWhizBang! award (or whatever...

never mind -- it was off topic.

    Logitech X-540 5.1 Speakers

It would have been cool to see a head-to-head comparison with the also-reviewed Altec Lansing FX4021 system, which is in the same price class. When I listened to these side-by-side at Best Buy, I think the FX4021 was the winner. Its sub went a bit deeper, and had less audible distortion from the...

    Altec Lansing FX4021

Ok, here I am. I decided to become a member of the forum. (I'm the one who posted about the Isobaric loading technique.) The speakers in my avatar picture are some that I've built. My favorite types of music are jazz and acoustic rock. *The proper spelling of the word is Isobaric. Sometimes...

    Cyber Accoustics, the brand name.

I wonder what the OP will think when he hears a real subwoofer for the first time... Generally, computer subwoofers can't even really be called "sub"-woofers, except that they cover whatever the woofers or full-range cones can't. But the CA subs are less subby than most. The Acoustic Authority...

    Cheap Good Speakers (2.1)

Actually, if SoundSticks are what you're referring to, I've never been very impressed with them. Try as they might, they're just little drivers, and are no good below 250-300 Hz or so. The sub doesn't have much heft to it, either. Also in the same class are the Altec Lansing FX4021, which were...
